Count me in as well, just installed Windows 7 again. -
As expected
. More and more people have opened their eyes now when it comes to lot of bugs and spying. Micro$oft is going to struggle heavy to get more people to use this junk/spyware as long as no one has adopted Direct X12 with increased performance gain.
@Matrix Leader You have used common sense finally? -

I was just giving it the benefit of the doubt, but all I felt was my system was less snappy and where the heck are those DX12 Games? You see, it offers me 0 benefits at this point.
Also, part of the reason why I was on Windows 10 is to have UEFI boot as it helps with my slow boot issue in the Intel 750 PCIe SSD but Intel has just released a new driver that helped with this so I'm good.hmscott likes this. -
Win X He add no Os users any good
. Good thing you got a new driver from Intel. I was shocked when I started using/test the new Os. Did not think it was possible to mess up this so freaking. Thought Win 8.1 was bad but this worm work of an Os are incredibly much worse. Now I have Win 7 Ult and I'am happy. Without direct X12, WinX He is nothing. Everyone should understand why Microsoft released this Os absolutely free. Free period will have to be extended for a long time after the initial free period.

My concern with M$ is even if they fully backed off on the security and hardware update issue now what is to prevent them from reverting back to old tricks down the line?

ref. "Windows 10 uptake is falling back to earth", full celebration set on hold until when reading "Windows 10 uptake is falling into a volcano" lol+++, and when MS backtracks and offers a sane OS.

How do you know it's sane? They can insert plenty of telemetry traffic into outgoing data streams before you can notice anything.

I heard MS promised to make free-to-play Fable online game with DX12. Where is it BTW? Everyone as already forgotten?

This actually would be a lawsuit that their new EU LA would not cover. The reason being is that it is concerning the installation prior to acceptance Of the new legal document.

Microsoft continues to work with the new garbage Os Win X He. When will they learn? How many shall experience a lot of trouble before Microsoft takes to sense? Total idiocy to not tell what the updates contain and force them on people. Only way to squeeze in new spyware so that nobody discovers it. Forcing useless drivers is also a briliant new idea from Micro$oft... I knew this was going to happen with their new strategy for the updates... Now it is every other Windows update patch a big problem. The same is with crippled drivers. Glad I use Win 7 and not this new modern garbage. LOL http://www.tenforums.com/windows-up...-windows10-update-kb3093266-what-does-do.html

They learn. They just don't care about enthusiasts, which are useless compared to the masses for them.

The one who had managed to get direct X12 to work with Win 7 had become a very rich man

So I accidentally uninstalled the windows calculator while uninstalling the windows10metro apps and now I kinda need it back. I tried running from an administrator powershell ths following command:
but still the calculator app doesn't come back.Code:Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers| Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}
Any tips what to do to reinstall it?
Thanks -
System restore?

I haven't tried this, don't use Windows 10, nor have I uninstalled Windows Calc, but AFAIK it's remained unchanged for many years, and Microsoft provides a download for it
Microsoft Calculator Plus - 2005
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=21622
Also from Microsoft, Microsoft Mathematics 4.0 - Graphing Calculator - 2011
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=15702
Try installing and use the compatibility mode / assist if necessary.
This might be where you found the install all apps script / line you quoted, it comes after the Uninstall instructions.
How to Uninstall Windows 10’s Built-in Apps (and How to Reinstall Them)
http://www.howtogeek.com/224798/how...and-how-to-reinstall-them/?PageSpeed=noscript
How about using a single targeted line for windowscalculator instead of installing everything you don't want and spent time removing?
Try this:
Get-AppxPackage *windowscalculator* | Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register
Also, if you ran that "reinstall everything" script, then it may have continued to work even after you got the error from it, as quoted from the article here:
"Give it some time and allow it to finish, even if nothing appears to happen at first. Even if you see an error message, restart and examine your Start menu — you may just have all those default apps back again, anyway."
Please come back and let us know what works

I don't think it's the same app in Win 10, so they finally changed it, FYI.
-
@hmscott t.hanks for your advice, unfortunately it did not solve my problem. More than that, even running the command to restore all apps, did not restore anything at all (after several reboots, idle time, etc , etc).
I will run a separate calculator app for now. -
myx, too bad
Well, one thing to remember to hold in your back pocket, for when you do your Windows 10 final install.
That happens to me to, the first time(s) with a new OS, trying lots of stuff and getting to know the limits - making mistakes - and then the final build has all that learned expertise to make it just right

Cute response by them, so should we call it spam instead as there is no initial profit but the link is provided to the product to induce a store purchase and income, along with hits, for them?

LOL I don't know how I missed your comment. Go look at Paragraph 3aiii, the rule NEVER SEND SPAM.. in aka.ms/msa, which I reproduced here: http://brainout.net/frankforum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=59#p309
So MSFT breaks its own Code of Conduct imposed on the Win10 user (incorporated by reference in Win10 EULA Paragraphs 1b(i) and 14), Bing user, Edge, Office 365 or Skype or Outlook.com or any of the other 'services'. Actually, if you read the link above, all the bolded terms (which are never defined) are broken by MSFT in the very aka.ms/msa issuance.toughasnails likes this. -
There is no doubt W10 is a huge risk to anyone with any type of productivity being done on the PC. It is only good afor consuption devices and even then it could be a risky OS to utilize. As I said from day one the issue is including local content in the mix of telemetry and the EULA.

Now that I just had decided on staying with Windows 10, you make it difficult again toughasnails... That statement in the EULA goes just way to far, it's against the right for privacy each human has, and I don't want to go to far, but this is against human rights imo.. Everybody is non-guilty, unless really proven guilty, Microsoft should have no right under any circumstances, to view or even analyze any form of personal data imo.. There is one sort of business, that I'd allow this partly, and that are services like NSA, KGB or similar, and even against what those do, the users go up against the wall.

Yeah, that all seems so fishy. MS is not the government. MS do not enforce laws. Nor should they even *WANT* to touch any of a user's data. It just opens them up for a world of hurt. It makes no sense whatsoever.
Seraiel likes this. -
Its necessary to include this in the EULA, since Microsoft needs to cover everything in there. This specific sentence, ripped out of context, is necessary because Windows 10 includes services like Onedrive, Cortana or Bing, which are part of Windows 10, but still optional. If you use these services, especially Cortana or Onedrive, Microsoft needs permission to access things like e-mails or files, since these services are dependent on these informations to function. Thats the reason why the EULA has to cover this, if it didn´t, Microsoft could get problems in courts.
If you don´t use these specific features, you have nothing to worry about.Seraiel likes this.
