I have noticed if you do an scandisk it says if it finds any errors you will be asked if you want to correct them, but after the scan if it finds errors it says that it has fixed them without asking you first, I have noticed half the contents of my hdd disappear when it does this, and this has happened a few times since Win10 was released, and i have to use recovery software to get the files back and that can take many hours.

The Redmond Morons want obviously more efficient process. This is called performance optimization of their operation system!!

That's not good
First, there's the command not respecting checking with the user first before removing files.
Second, how the heck is this happening at all? How are your filessystems getting corrupted in the first place?
It's been a long time since I have had a file loss on Windows, even after multiple crashes, the file system has been robust and mostly immune to corruption that isn't correctable.
What are the circumstances that are leading up to the file system corruption in Windows 10?Last edited: May 13, 2016Tinderbox (UK) likes this. -

But the Win10 scandisk should not be correction errors without my permission.

I keep on getting myself an ISO when It gets updated on MSDN, and in the end It just stays like that, useless, Every time if this OS keeps on updating like this and the builds like 10240, 10586 and the 10586.104 as a feb patch and now this Anniversary bulltrash and later another, very unfortunate that my PC wont boot with maxwell + LTSB(10240) Afaik.

yeah I keep downloading the ISO every few days in hope that it gets updated as I want the most updated one. Gone are the days when you have one ISO to worry about. Now 10586.0 then 10586.104 and now the new manual update which I posted before (offline update) to 10586.318Last edited: May 15, 2016toughasnails, Papusan, hmscott and 1 other person like this. -
Oddly, I like the way they doing with the iso.
It falls in line on how most major linux distros does their rolling and lts with their point releases.
Same goes for just sticking with a single iso and applying a single cumulative update.
Far easier to manage for those unfortunate who can't get authorization to utilize convenient tools.
Still taste bitter.Last edited: May 15, 2016 -
Marine Corps battles Windows 10 migration woes
http://www.zdnet.com/article/marine-corps-battle-windows-10-migration-woes/
"We've never had an operating system that's had this much security baked in from the beginning," said Terry Halvorsen, the DoD's CIO. "We're going to put out some guidance for our employees in general, listing the characteristics of what Windows 10 would give you if you put it on your home system. That's about as close to an endorsement as I can get for a software product."
Windows 10 upgrade only works on 10% of Marine Corps hardware, and this guy believes employee's should upgrade to Windows 10 too?
I think he's swallowed MS's BS hook, line, and KB3035583

Microsoft: We're planning to double Start menu ads in Windows 10 Anniversary Update
http://www.zdnet.com/article/micros...art-menu-ads-in-windows-10-anniversary-update
"Microsoft has spelled out its aim of doubling the space it allocates in the Start menu for promoting the Microsoft Store
...
The Start menu ads, or as Microsoft calls them Promoted Apps, haven't pleased everyone. It's the space on Start menu tiles that Microsoft allocates to suggested apps. But instead of the current five suggestions Microsoft is planning to increase that to 10 in the Windows 10 Anniversary Update
...
According to Microsoft, in the current Promoted Apps setup, two of five of the apps are actually installed while three look as if they come with Windows but are in fact just links to apps in the Microsoft Store. A Candy Crush gaming app is one of the apps that is actually pre-installed."Last edited: May 16, 2016 -
How was this Windows Store app able to download adware to a Windows 10 PC?
http://www.zdnet.com/article/how-wa...p-able-to-download-adware-to-a-windows-10-pc/
"Apps from the Windows Store run in a highly restricted sandbox and have to be approved before they can be listed. So why was this app able to automatically download an executable file that multiple virus scanners identified as potentially dangerous?
...
That doesn't mean developers can't try shady tricks. But their options are extremely limited, which is why I was surprised to find an app in the Windows Store last week that actually succeeded in downloading adware to a Windows 10 PC."
So, MS is going to increase the Ad's in the Start Menu by 2x, pre-installing 4 Store apps without permission of the PC owner, and those "trusted" Store apps aren't actually trustworthy.Papusan likes this. -
Robbo99999 Notebook Prophet
I saw that about Start Menu Adds increase by x2 that someone linked earlier at the top of this page - I'm not surprised, and it's not a positive move for me, but I'm not really bothered by it, I just don't use those tiles on the Start Menu, they don't exist as far as I'm concerned.
The 4 pre-installed Apps, I guess the pre-installed apps are likely to be secure at any rate. Always helps to have a good realtime virus scanner regardless. -
So, MS can come into your home, slap your Puppy, and you would say: "I'm not really bothered by it"?
At what point do you stop being a sycophantic lap dog to Microsoft, stand up for your rights, and tell them to knock this **** off?
It's just going to keep getting worse and worse, as we have been saying since the release OS kept the watchdog monitoring intact.
Dropping Windows 10, and going back to your previous OS is a good way to send a message to Microsoft that Windows 10 is going in a direction you can no longer support.
Or, you can let MS continue to come into your home, and slap your Puppy.

What Win X build version is the latest iso on Microsoft download?

10586.104 (AKA Feb Patch), then when you run Windows updates, it goes up to 10586.318
They will release a new ISO in June/JulyPapusan likes this. -
I have iso 10586.0
What is the main difference between it and the newest iso? Better performance? Some updates I need? Only if there is performance gains.
With my Crappy download now so I might as well wait for the main update in June / July. There are only 3 weeks I'm going on a month vacation. -

it basically includes the latest updates that were released in February, and you don't need to download an ISO for incremental updates like from 10586.00 to 10586.104
you need to download a new ISO for major updates like from 10240 to 10586 as that was more like a full OS reinstallation because after the update, you would see a Windows.old folder containing the old build, that's when I recommend grabbing the latest ISO
see the updates history here, click on each one at the bottom to see the changelog and find out what you're missing, lots of fixes:

Upgradegate: Microsoft’s Upgrade Deceptions Are Undermining Windows 10 (Updated)
https://www.thurrott.com/windows/wi...fts-upgrade-deceptions-undermining-windows-10
"For months now, I’ve complained about the software giant’s heavy-handed tactics in trying to trick customers into upgrading to Windows 10. But a recent change to the Get Windows 10 advertisement that is forced on Windows 7 and 8.1 users takes things entirely too far. This is indefensible.
Frankly, this entire episode has been indefensible, with Microsoft introducing a non-stoppable, non-hideable advertisement on several hundred million PCs from around the world. And then upgrading that advertisement to thwart those who do seek to remove or hide it. It has changed the language of the ad, made no clear cancel choice available, and jammed it into the “recommended” updates that auto-install via Windows Update. If you read this site, listen to Windows Weekly or What the Tech, you know how bad things are. It’s been a constant refrain.
Well, I’ve had it.
Last week, Microsoft silently changed Get Windows 10 yet again. And this time, it has gone beyond the social engineering scheme that has been fooling people into inadvertently upgrading to Windows 10 for months. This time, it actually changed the behavior of the window that appears so that if you click the “Close” window box, you are actually agreeing to the upgrade. Without you knowing what just happened....
My God, Microsoft. Just stop."

Wish me luck guys, today I gonna update 2 laptops (T410) to Windows 10 just for the sake of free key. My experience tells me that with Windows 10 literally everything may happen. Lets just hope that both laptops will survive and their Windows 7 key will not be erased from SLIC.Papusan likes this. -

Well if those bits that you quoted are true (I don't have Windows 7), then Microsoft have indeed gone too far - the bit about them manipulating the upgrade window so that if you click the "close" part of the notice it will assume you've chosen Yes for the upgrade. They shouldn't deceive people into upgrading, it needs to be a clear decision that people are given. -

This does not surprise me one bit. When there stock price takes a hit they always come up with some lame. There stock price has been dropping so they have to do something to keep share holders happy. Since W10 came out there stock price went up $11.00 ($45.60) but now has dropped to just $5.00 ($50.70) . -
Do you guys know about secret images where if you look in general on them you can see some mosaic but when you look closer and concentrate then you find some different image, right?
Well, when you look in general on this pic you can see usual bored Win10 advertising or more like a spam, right? But when you look closer and concentrate...
All "classic win10 adverts" were just notifying about win10 upgrade and suggesting it, even when there were no GUI button to cancel this suggestion except close button of course.
This one is not advertising at all. This is a notification that win10 already has you your PC is already set up to be "upgraded" without your permission while it looks exactly like adverts before. And if you deal with it like you did before (just closing it) you will do exactly what microsoft expected you to do which is missing this difference.
This is a notification which instead of closing you have to read carefully, specifically smaller font text, and follow the link to change that selfmade setup which scheduled for an update.Attached Files:

That's the point of the article.
The '
' is for this:
"Do you guys know about secret images where if you look in general on them you can see some mosaic but when you look closer and concentrate then you find some different image, right?"
That's completely different. That's a visual perspective thing.Last edited: May 25, 2016 -
Well yeah, microsoft did the trick with visual perspective thing exactly.
If you don't concentrate your eyes you can see big WINDOWS 10 IS RECOMMENDED FOR THIS PC - which perfectly fits the classic ms advertising pop-up. It doesn't say WINDOWS 10 IS SCHEDULED TO INSTALL ON THIS PC, isn't it? No, this new windows contains exactly what adverts contained before.
People visually see something common like classic marketing material about why win10 is good and already typical "Upgrade Now" button which kinda hints that if you press another button or even X-buttone then it will not upgrade.
So yeah, it is visually perspective trick. I personally took some time to notice how this pop-up differs from previous ones - that small text which is fitted exactly between 2 lines of big text.
Man, if this is not visual perspective trick then what is visual trick? Because when I look I have a feeling those big lines are moving at me and that small line is like hiding backwards.toughasnails likes this. -
