And the keys are still the same. All the W7 betas & RC have been using Vista RC1 keys. Just activated 7100 with my Vista RC1 key.
-
I gotta get 7100...if anyone has a direct link (non torrent), please PM me.
-
Windows 7 7100 is really stable so far.
-
Okay I'm about to burn the ISO image to a DVD...does it matter what speed I choose for writing the image to the DVD? It's set automatically to max but will going to fast possibly damage the quality of the DVD and the beta version itself?
-
I always choose max speed, but I would recommend medium or lowest speed to not risk a DVD. If it is damaged, the installer may crash at end.
-
Yeah I also just did a random google search and I saw various opinions on it although most people said that to be safe that it's better to choose a lower speed.
A few people said they used 4x and that it worked out perfectly as opposed to MAX which seemed to take longer to install.
So I'm gonna go with 4x. Hopefully it won't take forever. Very excited to try out the new build... -

Quality of media is the most important thing, some Verbatim and a 4 or 8x burn is like super high never fails quality. -
I wonder why people still burn OS installs. Most of them just works if you copy the files onto a flash drive and it's much faster than a laptop DVD-drive will ever be...
-
It didn't take that long to burn it to be honest. Maybe 20 or 25 mins I guess? It was a hella lot faster than the actually downloading of the beta. Which started off slow but picked up a lot of speed. at one point I was scared out of mind because it was claiming that it would take 4 weeks for it to download all of it.
Anyways I've got it up and running. I downloaded all the updates and everything was smooth.
However I'm now having a problem with the Aero feature of Windows 7. It just is not working. The appearance of the main page is like that of XP or some old PC system. Aero and the Vista like appearance were all there after the initial install and after the updates.
The only things I've done so far are
1) Download Firefox
2) Install Trend Micro Trail for Windows 7
3) Downloaded and installed some drivers from HP's website.
I'm trying to get back tow hen everything was working fine by uninstalling the drivers from HP but so far nothing has changed...
Does anyone have any suggestions...? -
I'd have to prepare my flash drive for that...and I buy my OEM Taiyo Yuden DVD-R 16x $20 the 100 pack. I think of doing it soon though...
-
Where can I download 7100 at??

Not sure about Win 7 but I know for vista & xp it was just not just a simple copy of files you have to format the flash drive as a bootable device and it takes a bit of work and specific programs to make it work right.
All in all I like to have the install dvd on hand for archiving as its an important disk, if I used my flash drive for it chances are I will have deleted the data off and replaced it with new stuff shortly after, then if I need the install disk again I would be out of luck. -

For Win 7 all you need to do is make the drive NTFS and put in the installation files. -
You also need to make sure the flash drive has boot sector.
-
Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
Really? All I did was do what I did above to install W7. -
So you mean....opening the iso with winrar or mounting it and then just copy the files into the flash drive? That simple?
-
Will win7 run on a flash drive? Does it kill the USB like xp did?
-
If you have a 40GB flash drive then yes.
-
Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
Yes that is it. -
As Jayayess1190 says, that is all you need to do. For example, I had extracted and copied all the files in the Windows 7 ISO to a USB flash drive so I could install it on my HP Mini netbook. Worked like a charm, and wickedly fast as well. All that's needed is to change-up the BIOS' boot order of the USB/HD's (temporarily) so the USB stick gets precedence in boot order. Then, after the installation is complete, revert the boot order to the original values and your good to go.

what serial keys do i use to activate build 7100/rc1 again? were can i find the beta 7 keys, or the vista rc1 key?
cheers -
you can use your existing keys if necessary
-
You can use the existing Vista RC keys or if you have a live/messenger/hotmail account you can obtain one here: https://login.live.com/login.srf?wa=wsignin1.0&rpsnv=10&ct=1241087313&rver=5.0.3265.0&wp=MCMBI&wreply=https:%2F%2Fprofile.microsoft.com%2FRegSysProfileCenter%2Fwizard.aspx%3Fwizid%3D8f8238be-fba5-47aa-bf50-487d70165405%26lcid%3D1033%26FU%3Dhttps:%2F%2Fwww.microsoft.com%2Fbetaexperience%2Fscripts%2Fgcs.aspx%3FProduct%3Dcons-win7-64-ww%2526Lcid%3D1033&lc=1033&cb=LCID%3D1033%26WizID%3D8f8238be-fba5-47aa-bf50-487d70165405%26brand%3DWindows&id=74335

-
ive a link for x64 3.05gb 7100 clean, pm.
using it now, got the beta key in there.
so far it beats vista hands down. I had a few eSata problems at start but once all drivers and bootup with it ON, its working fine now.
I never knew how much the taskbar could do until now! -
if anyone finds/has a link to the 32bit RC, I would appreciate a PM
-
just look for it on the biggest public torrents website. It's not hard to do >_>
-
Ya I did that and downloaded build 7077 I didn't realize the RC1 build was 7100, I'm not sure what I downloaded, I guess the last beta. I'll use this and then just move over to the May 5th official release to make sure that I have the correct version.

With the leak of build 7137, let's continue discussion here guys
I'm downloading build 7137 right now. Hoping for something good. -
Is there anything noticeably different?
-
Well, no GUI difference, I just did a clean install 2 hours ago. So far, very stable, nothing much different from the RC though.
-
The post-RC builds won't have anything noticeably new. They are intended to be for bug catching to get any show-stopping problems resolved before release.
-
I figured. I'm just curious to see if Microsoft will leave the Vista Aero theme in the retail version or are they planning any noticeable GUI changes?
-
Tried to do an upgrade (from 7100) and in the compatibility check it said there was not enough room on drive E. I know I don't have a drive E. Double checked "My Computer" just in case something changed, and there isn't a drive E. So had to do a clean install.
Anyone else come across this? -
Hey guys, build 7201 (compiled on 06/01) is now leaked!!!

can anyone please post the torrent link thats allowing p2p download for windows 7 final RC 7227 or 7229?? 64-bit edition
-
what is this now? we're gonna have a new build every day?
this is annoying -
I would but it's against the forum rules so you're on your own on that one. It's not that difficult to find with a quick Google search.
-
Nobody forces you to install each and every build.
-
I'm 'happy' with build 7137 on both desktops and notebooks.
-
I am on build 7100 any noticable improvments on the newset builds or should I just stay here?
-
The newest builds are just under the hood fixes.
-
ill just wait for something major then as 7100 is working fine for me so far.
-

Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
I will wait for final release. Seems builds are leaking faster than before the RC.

Build 7230 RTM will be leaked either tonight or tomorrow.
