Installed it... I don't see any difference so far?
I see my system as showing 4.00 GB of ram instead of 3582mb... I wonder if it's actually using all the ram.
-
cause 1 is great
duh -
-
its not using it, there is Microsoft KB article that they made a change that it will show how much ram is installed, but it still will not use all 4gb on 32bit windows. -
Well I still don't see it and the only updates I have listed are as optional and it is just the language pack. 34 of them! I never get these cause its useless to me. Should I hide them?
-
how do i delete the SP1 i downloaded a while back?
-
After installing SP1 on my m9750, I am seeing a significant improvement in game performance (fraps) on Splinter Cell Double Agent on the same levels I was playing yesterday before installation. This is preliminary and I will need to check some other games before making any definite conclusion, but so far it seems that SP1 is helping the game performance. I haven't checked in SLI mode yet-that's next and I will post the results.

I will work on the timing thing tonight when i get home from work. i just did a fresh vista install so i dont have SP1 yet, it will be interesting to see if there is any (real) difference. Anyone have any suggestions for apps to time?
-
-
I have and just not coming up for my system. I have checked everything so it must be a driver or something that is not fully compatiable yet.
-
i was having the same issue.. it didnt come up for me until after i downloaded the stand alone file. i doubt that it has anything to do with it but??? who knows..lol -
I was thinking i read that there were some issues with driver compatability and some hardware required a driver update before SP1 will show up in wu. i just cant remember if the driver updates show up before or after SP1 in wu -
At last! After months of waiting, Windows Vista SP1 was released!
Download Vista SP1 (Standalone Installer)
Get Vista SP1 From Windows Update
Important Changes to Windows Vista Service Pack 1 -
As far as I know my system is completely up to date and everything is ok for go. So it is bound to be a compatibility issue. There were several things listed there on the page with conflicts and they won't release it for a system with those conflicting devices or drivers to it is resolved. I think I read something about realtek audio driver and I know its realtek HD audio on my laptop. Don't really care I will get it sooner or later and from what I have read so far doesn't make a hill of beans difference anyway.
-
1998 called, and they're looking for you.
-
-
sorry i don't know... im so excited to try it now.
-
Well I run the HP Updater and it said everything was up to date.
-
Downloaded and installed ...... See absolutely no difference in performance yet.
BTW .... It took longer to install SP1 than Vista itself. -
I just installed it and gained a lot of hard drive space...i went from about 28.5 gigs to 37.5gb. Oh, wait...i still have the stand alone installer so i technically gained 9.5 gigs...why?

His report is that it WAS about drivers that third parties need to get fixed. The delay was to allow THEM the time to do so, not for Microsoft to do anything themselves.

Now I can't remember exactly how much I had before.
My Ram & CPU usage is running at the same level though. -

ScuderiaConchiglia, Microsoft released Vista two months after it went RTM. They also released SP1 (now) a month and a half after RTM. It's business as usual. Business users come first.
-
So wat do us people who have the evaluation copy. Build 6001 (the RC version) have to do now?
-
If it's an evaluation copy (with that annoying number version written on the desktop) then uninstall and install SP1. If you have a version which you have downloaded earlier (let's say February or very late January) and it doesn't say evaluation copy then you have SP1.

Given the circumstances, I think this strategy was sound. The OEM and developer communities who all got it first were in a better position to verify the driver manifests on their machines than the folks who would have been affected had it been released worldwide before the driver authors were given the opportunity to fix their software.
Gary -
So any performance testimonials? As people have said, I haven't noticed any improvements so far.
-
Not showing up in WU, I even downloaded freakin Silverlight hoping that it shows up. I guess my computer has one of the affected drivers. Oh well, time to download the standalone....
-
Currently downloading 121.5mb and at 12% -
Edit: Never mind, I found it... same link as mentioned by others: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/948343
Argh... it's apparently the Intel 965 chipset / x3100 graphics driver that's holding back SP1 for me.
booboo12, I'm guessing that's your issue too, since I have almost the same computer as in your sig: D630, Vista Biz, x3100 graphics. -

Hey guys for a clean install would it be better for me to use the stand alone, or just operate windows update on recovery. Windows update scenario after recovery do I have to install a whole lot of updates or just Vista Service Pack One.
-
-
I'm installing right now; for some reason it didn't show up in Windows Update until I followed Lawrence's link and then I guess it forced it.
I don't see why it wouldn't show up, as I have all updates set to show up...
More info:
66.9 MB total.
I hope this doesn't screw anything up.
Ok, I think maybe my sound was preventing me from seeing it, but (as I said) I was able to find it with Lawrence's link. -

well I just installed SP1 via Windows Updater. For some reason it didn't find it right away but I gave it a few clicks and eventually it popped up. Log in seemed slow but didn't they say something about the computer having to re-adjust?
-
-
Device Manager. Expand to the one you want and right click on it. Select properties, drivers tab, and then select driver details. Et viola! The list of affected drivers was posted on a previous page.
-
I went to HPs site and manually installed a boat load of stuff. Including the enw Realtek audio driver and bunch of other stuff I probably already had from the MS update site and even flashed the bios with the new version that was just released. Still doesn't show up, buck it.
-
I keep getting Error Code 80070426 when trying to install SP1 using Windows Update. It always stops after 12%
Anyone know how to fix this? -
Have you tried that link Lawrence provided on a previous page?
-
His post on page 22 with the standalone download link?
I'm already downloading the 64bit standalone but it's about twice the size as what I was downloading on windows update. It would nice if that would actually work like it's supposed to. -
Ok, well I have two conflicts...
Biometric (Fingerprint) Sensors:
UPEK Fingerprint Sensor with the Tcusb.sys driver file version 1.9.2.99 or earlier
Display drivers:
For x86-based computers: Igdkmd32.sys versions between and including driver 7.14.10.1322 and 7.14.10.1403
What should I do? I'm looking for the updated drivers but I can't find them -
Try this: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/.
-
Of course Dell locks it so that only Dell approved drivers can be installed. (I tried to install ones direct from Intel before-got nowhere)
I'm just gonna force it. I have a backup in case anything happens!
Windows Vista SP1 was released!
