I too have the SigmaTel audio driver installed and my WU can't find SP1.
I'm currently downloading the standalone installer - 434.5 megs!

My Sigmatel driver is outdated. Where do I find the latest driver to download?
-
I finally got it to work. What I did and I don't know what the hell the difference was but I useing the Windows Updater link from the Start Menu. Ok after trying everything I opened Internet Xxplorer and went to the Update site at Microsoft and ran the updater again Viola! It came up.
I did this exact samething before here using Firefox. So if you are useing Firefox or the Windows Updater link in the Start Menu close it down and open Internet Explorer web Browser and then Go tto the Microsoft website download page and select Windows Update link.
Also others had sayin 69mbs or something mine when it came is like 121mbs. It is downloading now. -

Intel Display:
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/default.aspx?iid=CorporateV3+Header_2_Support_Download
You will need to find out what chipset you are running and download the relevant driver.
If your having trouble finding out what your chipset is, download the Intel Chipset Identification Utility:

Is anyone having any problems with install failures? I tried installing the SP1 update earlier today and for whatever reason, I got a failure notice. I have tried re-downloading it and reinstalling several times; however, the file size increases slightly each time, but yields another failure. Anybody know a way around it? I tried doing a restore point, but apparently because of the failed download there is something wrong with my OS hard drive and if I go to the Last Good Configuration there is no change. Will downloading and installing from the standalone fix the problem? It seems that part of Windows thinks it's already downloaded while other parts think it is not. Any help is appreciated.

It's not there.

Mine has been stuck at 12% of 121mbs now for like 5 minutes.

I did a full reinstall this morning, and now I'm finally back up with all my programs/data. I used Windows Update to download SP1.
-
-
Took me 14 minutes to download both the 32 bit and the 64 bit...a combined 1.1GB. Great speed from the Microsoft server, pretty much a constant 1.3 Mbps download rate.

Edit:
No luck in finding that thread. This is ridiculous. -
This is rediculous,
1) The X3100 is a standard intel graphics card that a ton of people use. Why would they ever release SP 1 when it has driver issues with it.
2) I can't install the updated driver from the intel website for some reason. I'm guessing it's because I'm required to install the lenovo driver for the X3100 (I have a thinkpad t61). Unfortunately the driver's lenovo is offering are outdated.
Thanks for the UPEK driver though. It updated that one. I'm not really sure what to do about the video driver though.
By the way, I do realize that I have the Intel 965 Express Chipset Family. -
I tried installing with the standalone file and I still get an error. This is pretty ridiculous.
If anyone has a solution to Vista Error Code 80070426, then please let me know. Every other update on there has worked for me. -
I installed it via the standalone.......
but
Windows Update doesn't show SP1 in my update history. Weird. "Computer" info shows I have SP1, though, and nothing went wrong during installation. hmm... -
Well I guess the only other alternative is to install the Standalone. =/

Here is a link to the Universal Extractor: http://legroom.net/software/uniextract
You use it to extract the files then you go into Device Manager and tell it you want to update the driver and then point it to the directory where you extracted the driver files. You MIGHT have to edit the INF file, but I doubt it. The INF doesn't care what model computer you have only what model of the DEVICE you are trying to update. I am pretty sure the device on the FZ and you machine are identical.
Good luck!!!

After wasting 3 hours of my life installing it, SP1 refused to complete the install. It rebooted to a text screen where it showed it loading system files, everything goes swimmingly until the 35149 file. Then it hangs there flickering the text on screen. If anyone's thinking about forcing the upgrade on a system with an Intel x3100 that has outdated drivers, don't, I learned my lesson today! Sigh, I guess I'll have to wait until WU pushes it out automatically in April.
If anyone's curious the update hangs on this particular line- !!0x0000034!! 35149/71349 (\Registry\machine\Schema\wcm://Microsoft... -
Wow. Thanks booboo! I was thinking about installing it, but now I'll hold off on that.
Has anyone else out there gotten the standalone update working on a system with x3100 graphics? -
-
blackmamba, is the SigmaTel driver the only one you have the SP1 won't like? If so, you already tried Sony and you said the update driver wasn't there, so try typing in your computer model as vgn-fz290 (like mine) because it has an update driver and it worked for me.
-
X3100 Driver Update - try this
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Product_Filter.aspx?ProductID=2301
I know it doesn't seem like it's the right driver, but I think it is....
The link somebody post for the updated drivers for the X3100 were for XP, and on Intel's website, it is listed as "Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Windows* XP" and when you search for "intel graphics media accelerator vista" it comes up with the link I posted above. The driver in the link above also doesn't fall into the problem range listed on the page from the link a few pages back.
Try it! -
Edit: I read wrong. But Paticle, I've tried to do this already. Thats why Scuderia provided me with a universal extractor. I'll go ahead and give this a shot. Brb. -
-
Gary. I tried to download the and install the uniextractor but a ton of errors come up saying stuff like this: see attachment
I don't know what to do now.. -
Holy ****
I jsut got home, someone fill me in. What happpened?!?!?! -
Ok, I got it installed. Whew.
Better patch those theme files now. -
I still can't seem to download it. When I checked disk, it found some errors but couldn't fix them.

I don't know if this was mentioned but the icons in the lower right (taskbar) seem closer together. Maybe I just never noticed it before
-
-
Ok, got my theme files patched, so it's all good....
....except I lost 1GB HD space.
Maybe I just need to wait a while and make sure there are no ill side-effects, and then do a disk cleanup, but I have System Restore disabled, so that's not it.
Oh well, at least it works! -
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Noticed my connection through ethernet has majorly improved.

Finally got it installed but it was such a hassle!
So after uninstalling SP1 RC I spent around 2 hours installing updates. It would download all of them, and only one or two would be succesful and insisted on a reboot. Rebooted and repeated until all 12 finished. Then magically it found 4 more updates that behaved the same way. GRRR... I had to update my sound drivers and also hide two optional updates.
But FINALLY, 30 min download, 30 min install (Surprised me, as SP1RC took 1 hour). -
Just downloaded. Took one hour exactly to download and install.
I have noticed zero difference. Still takes me 3:30 to restart. Just as long to power up. Everything else is still slow.
From day one with Vista it has been very slow. It looks just like XP but slower.
Where are all these big differences in appearance between the two operating systems? My opinion is that Vista is nothing more than a bad new service pack for XP.
I have Home premium....where are the 3-d desktop icons? What the hell does Aero do?
I bought my G1s back in July.....I swear if I could go back I would get an apple. But I do love the G1s when playing games. Thats the only thing that runs smooth with Vista.
Thumbs down to service pack 1 and Vista -

What is "PerfLogs"
After installing SP1 it showed up in my C drive with a whole mess of admin privileges -
Wow this thread exploded while I was gone.
Spent the whole evening downloading/installing SP1, so far so good.
Definitely longer bootup times, but everything else is snappier.
No benchmarks though.
Annoyed they still haven't corrected the "issue" of all those folders being created everytime I do something, i.e. pictures, music, contacts, desktop, etc... annoying -
) After my download list was blank, it showed up!
-
Finally! It showed up! I am downloading now, hopefully everything is smooth sailing from this point.
-
Installed on two computers... one ultimate and one premium....
Not slower, not faster... I'd say about the same. I was happy before sp1, happy now... still performing some tests, but everything seems stable. Been working with it for about 10 hours now. -
I have noticed significant improvement in speed besides startup.
-
The same thing showed up earlier today when I ran a WEI. It stands for performance log, I think.
Windows Vista SP1 was released!
