Same here Weegie...don't like them either...wish they'd stayed with the 16:10 format.

Clarksfield, the i7 quad core doesn't have switchable graphics, but all other i7s (Arrandale, dual core) will have switchable graphics. It will also need a different chipset (not PM55, but HM55 or something similar). Clarksfield should still be supported on HM55, but then it will be again discrete graphics only.

    Hi guys

Just a note about USB 3.0 support, there's a rumor (nothing more) that Intel won't fully adopt it until 2011 on their motherboards, so I wouldn't hold your breath for mobile support any time soon.

in the article it says intel wont release there usb controller but the spec is open to anyone who wishes to make the chips so still some hope but esata will do me fine just now it transfers my collection fairly quickly!

Even when USB 3.0 comes out (like Asus' implementation), it will take time to develop proper support and refinements since it also requires good SATA/600 drives. Early numbers aren't looking so hot. The only SATA/600 SSDs are ridiculously expensive (well to be fair, they're SAS since they first got SATA/600 support) but at least they will soon saturate the SATA/600 bandwidth lol.

Any news, thoughts, rumors on when we can expect a refresh for E6400? I like that machine, but DDR2 and M160, etc. are getting old. I'd love to see i5 or even i7 and the new gen nVidia card, even if integrated. When does Dell normally refresh their business models, July/August every 2 years? Thanks!

They'll refresh it in Q1 2010, when Arrandale is released. You can expect DDR3 since DDR2 support has been dropped in the 5 series Intel chipset, plus integrated graphics on the new dual cores (for switchable graphics).
