Well I am glad that they are going to replace the machine. I would be curious if they would not replace it with another D430, since if they were going to use a different model I thought they ask if your happy with that trade off.

Well, they did inform me that since the D430 is not in production no longer that a another model could be given out.

I just chatted with them again and they stated that whatever my other laptop came with, the other one will have the same. However they didn't know what model it would be. Guess I have to wait 7-21 business days to find out...

It will most likely be a E4200. I had a D430 go dead in April, they said they were going to replace it with a refurbished D430, but two weeks later they said they couldn't find a refurb D430 with the same specs I had (although I saw a few on the outlet that were exact same specs as mine). so they said they were going to replace it with a refurb E4200, then 3 days goes by, they call me back and said they couldn't get a refurb E4200 so they submitted an order for a brand new E4200. then 2 more weeks later I received a brand new E4200. Although it only had about 3 months warranty on it (it had the remainder of the warranty of the D430). I tried to get the warranty upgraded/extended. they wanted another $450 to extend it for 2 years. I said forget it.

So you'll most likely receive an E4200

Wow, looks like you were right...

    X320R BASE (ASSEMBLY OR GROUP)..., NOTEBOOK..., CPEN, SP9600, B, E4300 00001
    38XCW MODULE..., PALMREST..., DUAL POINTING..., W/O FPRDR, E43 00001

I just took a look at my case and it appears I will get something like that. Not 100% sure of the specs, but it looks interesting from the SP9600...

Still going to be a bigger than the D430 :/ Need to make sure it has the WWAN card and the media slice since I have both for my current laptop. I'm not picky, but just want to make sure its an even trade.

My Dad has had both the E4200 and the E4300 so I have tested them side by side. Although the E4300 is a tad bit bigger it is much more powerful and in that I think it is worth the added weight, which is still only a little bit.

The E4300 has a built in drive, so it does not need the media slice.

After I posted that I saw that :p I just called Dell about the WWAN card, 3 cell battery and the docking station. They have to get back to me since the system is refurbished and they can't add anything to it. Plus, the dept is not in today. As long as they send me the parts, I don't care - especially the battery and the WWAN card. The dock I guess I can live without.

Another thing, they are going to use standard shipping on the laptop, so it will take quite a few days to get here. I thought they used next day on replacement...oh well.

Well I am just happy that it is working out for you so far. I am just crazy jealous you are getting a SSD out of the deal!

I agree, I am happy for that. However I would be glad to trade that in for something my other machine had at this point.

Well the battery and WWAN can not be that hard to aquire at all. Docks are pretty cheap if you can find one used like on craigslist.

You can try to do some googling and see if the card in the D430 fits in the E4300
