Wow, I have been trying to fix my skipping audio for months with no success, I sent this computer back to dell twice and both times they returned to me saying "we did nothing" :( AHHH! this explains it however, my DPC latency is spiking above 8000. I wonder if Dell will actually do something about now.

    Hi.
What do you mean with 'plugged in/off'? Probably your power adapter? You could verify your energy settings. If you experience bad latencies while working on battery power your cpu might be too slow or your audio/networkadapters might work not with full power...

    good luck :)

Back on XP now. System is behaving much better.. for some reason Vista, audio and the E6400 don't get along well.

Latency is still too high IMO, it averages out at about 800.

But I have noticed something VERY strange I would like your oppinion on. When there is a lot of activity on the HD the latency is halved by app. 50%. And when the disk stops it's back to normal. What the hell is going on here?

I got an interesting development -- I ran xperf per the instructions only to discover the dxgkrnl.sys (DirectX Kernel Graphics driver) causing my latency! With Unknown and tcpip.sys coming in at a close second/third place.

    http://krhainos.tk/xperf2.jpg

I've switched back to 182.08 and now Unknown modules are taking up twice as much dxgkrnl. -vs- the previous stat of dxgkrnl taking ~1.5x of Unknowns.

I really gotta figure out what those blasted Unknown modules are.

This is what I'm looking at with:
    - v182.08 nVidia drivers
    - SPDT driver (for Alcohol 120% drive emulation) uninstalled.
    - Broadcom Wi-Fi and WIDCOMM/Bluetooth uninstalled (removed. uninstalled. not "disabled" or "turned off")
    - 8.2 Intel Matrix Storage driver, no utility installed.

Running Vista Ultimate 64 bit, problems with my E6400 have been sorted by:

. Installing non-Dell Intel Matrix Storage Manager drivers from Intel: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Det...OSs=150&OSFullName=Windows Vista* 64&lang=eng
    . Installing non-Dell) nVidia drivers from laptopvideo2go.com: http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/drivers/vista64/185.26
. Installing different Broadcom drivers for my Mini-1510 wireless card: http://ftp.us.dell.com/network/R212337.EXE (These are actually for an 'Asus' card on the dell site, but stole the idea from http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=14644&view=findpost&p=109543)

My problems with USB audio stuttering have all but dispersed. I've got the DVDRW plugged in with latency generally below 0.5ms, peaking at around 1ms. Haven't turned eSATA back on yet but I don't expect to get any troubles from that.

    Finally happy! :D

Like I wrote on the other thread http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=364436&page=4
Do anyone know how to install the broadcom driver and still be able to use the "DELL Controlpoint Connection Manager" (for e.g. UMTS,GPS)?
