Does Dell make a software that will automatically check all driver / application updates and download / install them?

I owned an IBM Thinkpad for years and that software (ThinkVantage) is great!

I downloaded this but having problem extracting the file. It shows "This self-extracting zip file is part of a multidisk zip file. Please insert the last disk of the set."

Can't believe something I downloaded from offcial website will have this problem.

Maybe the file did not finish downloading completely? I had no problems installing this.

I use Everest, but it's a paid program, and it does a lot more than monitor temps. If you want to go the free route, you can always use HWMonitor from the CPUID guys. It's actually quite good.

For reference, my E4200 is normally operating at 50 degrees Celsius. However, since mine runs 24 hours a day, I have it on a Zalman notebook cooler which reduces the temps by about 5 degrees or so. Idle temps are normally 45 degrees or so for the CPU. There are some other thermal diodes in the system for the chipsent and RAM etc. Everest monitors all of them. They are normally under 40 degrees if I don't push the system too hard--which--by the way--doesn't take much. All I need to do is listen to music using WMP. WMP sucks, it's such a resource hog but I use it so I can play DRM'd music from Rhapsody.

achen: I installed the same file and had no issues, I am sure your download was corrupted so just try again.

Thanks for the info, is that picture from a stock Dell card or an aftermarket card like I am looking to put in?

It's a pic of the actual Samsung drive installed in my E4200. By the way, I ordered a bare 64GB SLC drive for my E4200. I guess, I will be in the same position as you in a few days. I hope, I don't have to cut any holes in that card!

Wait, are you guys saying that if you don't have a WWAN/3G card in your E4200 that you can stuff flash storage in the slot where it would have gone?

That means that we can have a possible 288GB storage in the E4200. Start with the 128GB 1.8" SSD, add a 32GB SDHC card, add a 64GB ExpressCard/34 SSD, and now add a 64GB PCI-e to the free slot internally?

Am I getting this right? I'm really interested in ways to stuff more storage into my E4200.

Just to have storage? Very likely. To be able to boot from it? Not as sure.
