Have you looked at your Dell Control Point settings? There is a switch that disables battery charging.

No, that is an old version. The new one is nicer looking.

Ahh thanks, Jason. Ya get what you pay for (usually). Still it's an excellent deal at 20 bucks delivered.

How is the Adamo working out for ya? Did you ever do a review?

The Adamo is much better than the E4200. The only downside is the weight, but that was never an issue for me in the first place, so it doesn't bother me.

I posted my thoughts and some pics over in the Adamo thread after mine was delivered. The link below goes to the first one, but I posted a dozen more times after that with additional info.

Yeah, it's pretty heavy, heavier even than its cousin, the E4300. It's the all-aluminum construction. You pay for it in weight (and heavy coin :p) It's a nice laptop. I am glad you are happy with it.

^ ugh, that dell leather folio is ugly. Nothing compared to the premium leather cases Sony makes for its ultraportables.

that said, I've been playing with my e4200 for a couple of weeks now and I love it. The red color is stunning, it's light & small, the screen is bright and crisp, and with 3GB and that SSD, relatively powerful for all my needs, incl. web, illustrator & photoshop work on the go! So far, I've had none of the problems reported on this thread.

at the refurb price with a 3-year warranty, it's the best deal in town!

Ummm, how much are those Sony cases again? ;) Let's not complain at the great Dell deals we are blessed with. I agree however, and you are totally right on the E4200 being the best deal in town. I paid about 1200 for the 3 year onsite warranty for mine and that was still 30% more than what people are paying today but I am happy!

Speaking of warranty, it looks like my keyboard backlight has crapped out. It just won't turn on (nothing to do with ALS--I have messed around with the BIOS and I changed nothing prior to the failure). That sucks royally and I am disappointed since I barely touch the keyboard (use the BT or external keyboard since the E4200 is always plugged in). Can't believe it went out so early. Let's see how Dell supports it in the Middle East. This should be interesting.
