I'd worry about the zeroshock III 12" case fitting. Says inner dimensions are 11.4 x 1.6 x 9.4 inches. From what I read in the guide, the e4200 is 11.7 x 1.1 x 8 inches. That .3 inches makes me wonder. The 13.3" would be a safe bet. I just don't know of any place local that carries the zeroshock to test before buying. Maybe esskay can at least measure the outer dimension of his older case and see if it matches up to the outer dimensions of the newer one (12.4 x 1.0 x 10.6 inches).

I'm actually starting out with this case for $10. Good reviews, good dimensions, and for $10 it's pretty much disposable. With prime shipping I'll have it on Tuesday.

Unfortunately I have to send my E4200 back to Dell so they can fix the loose battery issue. So it'll go back tomorrow when I receive the label and box which will mean about a good week I'll be without it...grrrr.

My zeroshock measures out at about the same dimensions as you cite above. It is a perfect fit for the E4200 with 6 cell.

Not sure what version it is, found my original order email from Shinza in 1/06:

Does anyone use bluetooth peripherals with their E4200? My E4200 has the Dell "Bluetooth Wireless Card 365" built-in.

I have a Logitech Bluetooth keyboard which has worked flawlessly with my last couple laptops. I paired it up to the E4200 today, and it functions very very poorly. Drops keystrokes, repeats characters for no apparent reason (sometimes continuously until you hit another key), ctrl/shift/function keys don't work. As a keyboard it is basically unusable.

Any ideas? I have another bluetooth keyboard which I will test to make sure it isn't the specific keyboard -- but this same keyboard works perfectly with my Portege and its built-in bluetooth.

ETA - sheesh, can't even get it to pair up with the other keyboard (which works fine connected via bluetooth to my desktop). Do you guys think I have a bad 365 bluetooth card?

    Thanks guys

I'm using this case with the 6-cell battery and it still fits fine.

I am a prolific BT user. I also have the 365. I have paired up the E4200 with my Logitech Dinovo Classic (5 years old), the Logitech BT mouse, the Microsoft BT Wireless Laser Mouse 5000 and, my Blackberry 8900 Curve and my HTC Tytn II cell phones. No issues, whatsoever.

    Thanks for the reply.

I further tested with my Logitech MX900 mouse, which pairs and functions perfectly.

Do you mind checking to see what version of BT drivers you have?

Mine appears to be Widcomm / Broadcom
    ver 5.5.0.3208 (dated 8/3/08)

Dell's support page shows latest to be
    ver 5.5.0.3208, A04 (dated 12/23/08)

Not sure if the A04 designation makes a difference or whether it would even show up in Windows.

I checked for older versions and Dell only shows:
    5.5.0.3208_61_173 (MS HIDS), A04 (dated 9/18/08)

So all three dates are different.

Should I perhaps try updating with the latest even though I just received my refurb? Not sure why the driver shows date of 8/3/08...

    Thanks.

    Broadcom: v6.1.0.4100 dated 1/31/2009.

I believe in a clean install, so my philosophy is different. I never rely on the vendor to give me a clean OS. You really have to do this yourself.

However, I recommend that you update all drivers as recommended by the Dell website. If I recall correctly, the Dell driver even updates the firmware on the 365 module so either way it should be done.
