This machine isn't targeted at the hard core performance crowd. You'd never get the cooling you need in a package this small and after all the problems with the nvidia chips breaking down due to heat, I suspect a number of companies are a bit shy about pushing that particular envelope.

That said, a super thin super light very large screen laptop would be awesome as a portable game ready rig. We're just not there yet.

LOL. I can't even seem to buy it from the regular store yet. I placed my order over a month ago and I'm still waiting as they miss one promised date after another.

Beyond my frustration though, I haven't seen one in the outlet yet, though I think I remember someone posting about seeing one in an outlet store (in Asia I think).

The delays have been modified, the 256gig drive looks to be available now. I guess I could bite the bullet and deal with XP... arrggghhhh why did this laptop have to be so damn nice?

Although, the i7 XPS 16 is priced nicely so might be a good alternative...

I hate to say this, but I finally had to give up on the Z. Delays in ordering the unit I want with Windows 7, with the proper drivers gave me great cause for concern. If they can' t get this high tech PC out the door with windows 7, almost a couple months after launching the thing, what confidence do we have that it will live up to all of the hype and expectations?

I ended up with a new 2.8GHZ Macbook Pro 15" and a Apple 24" HD display for less than I would have spent on the Z600. I now have a nice portable laptop that I can hook up very quickly to a larger display for my development work. It's more powerful, expandable, smaller in depth and length, very thin at .95" and works great with Windows 7. I'll trade my Verizon Express Card in for a MiFi today and I will be in business.

I have been buying Dell computers for my business for over 10 years. They are good reliable computers and the latitudes have a fantastic out of the box warranty. But they really screwed the pooch with this new Z.

Dell, if it ain't ready, don't bring it to market.

I ordered one with twin 128 gig SSD's and it was shipped within 10 days. The 256 gig drives had a delivery date too far in the future so I opted for the 128's.
