Same here. ON battery + low brightness = screen flicker. Usually, turning on and off the auto brightness or increasing the brightness one notch solves this, momentarily.

I've been a little lazy though and did not get back on dell about this. Not sure if I should. The LCD backlit HP tablet I have at work doesn't do it...

Dell replaced the screen today, the problem still exist so maybe not the screen that was the problem.

Now they will try to replace the graphics card.

Cananyone else confirm that you also have this flicker when looking at the image in the first post? And what screen do you have?

the link doesn't work anymore. But I haven't noticed any flickering...only when I switch power profiles using Control Point.

i honestly cannot see the pictures flickering. are you sure you have disabled the power saving options in the settings for the gpu (at least they were on mine for the intel 4500)? it was really annoying when those were on but i got rid of it. although this sounds like a different problem.

    either way, good luck.

Has anyone found a fix for this? I'm having the same issue and Dell replaced my laptop but the new one still has the same problem!

Is the flickering at any brightness level or only at low brightness? Does it occur on both mains and battery power?

Does your display have LED backlighting? The backlight brightness is controlled by switching the LEDs on and off. At low brightness the off periods can start to be noticeable by people with sensitive eyes.

It's only happening on the lowest brightness setting. I haven't used it enough on AC power to know for sure but it's happening a lot on battery power.

John, I don't think the LED backlight flicker problem is to blame here. I think the flicker problem here is caused by improper screen voltage. Check out the following link:

    http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/inversion.php

If I'm correct, another forum member had the same problem with his E6500, and replacing the LCD did the trick.

Maybe you should ask for another LCD swap? I don't think that the graphics card is the cause here.

That's one way to go. The other is to use the screen with a brightness of a couple of steps above minimum. I've just tried and I can see the flicker at the lowest two settings. Going up another step doesn't make much difference to the power consumption. My display is the LG (LPL0140 under monitor properties in Device Manager).

Dell could fix this problem by changing the voltages in the BIOS, but maybe there are some people who don't notice the flicker and can benefit from the slight increase in battery time.
