Contact Dell. It's part of the warranty.

Do all of the 6410s have Latitude ON? I just picked one up and moved the hard drive from my 6400 to it. I tried to install the ON software, but it said there was not a flash present. It has the button though and I do not see where it is an option when ordering. Do I have it? Is it worth having?

No, not all E6410 have Latitude ON. And yes, there is an option when ordering brand new. Even though I order the one from Dell Outlet, mine happen to have it. Is it worth having it? Well, I would say for most people, the answer probably is a no.

LOL, why you so angry? FYI it was the Canon S90, so feel free to avoid that in the future.

I have been running a few games and monitoring the temperature on the dedicated GPU, and found that the NVIDIA NVS 3100m idles around 65°C. Is this a normal operating temperature for the E6410? While I haven't yet managed to make the system crash due to heat, hwmonitor and gpu-z have recorded temperature maximums up to 100°C. From what I understand, this is approaching the critical threshold.

I have taken the appropriate measures to ensure that the fan is completely clean of dust, and the vent is unobstructed for dissipating heat. The laptop is sitting on an aluminum desk, which shouldn't lend itself towards contributing to the high thermal levels I am seeing. Aluminum has a reasonably high thermal conductivity, and thus the heat flux should draw the heat away from the base of the computer, especially since the laptop base itself is composed of an alloy. I just cannot fathom why this computer seems to have such a difficult time with dissipating heat, unless the NVIDIA 3100m/310m has a reputation for running hot.

Is this a normal occurrence or a local phenomenon with the E6410? Any reports from NVIDIA 3100m users of idle/max temps would be much appreciated.

I got mine from the Outlet, too. Got a killer deal on it after a 15% coupon they emailed me.

I'm still not seeing where I can add it when configuring a new 6410 to purchase. Would they put the ON button up next to the power button on machines that didn't support it?

Since I moved my 6400 hard drive over to it I'm not sure if it doesn't work because something is not installed or because it isn't there. As mentioned before though, I cannot install the firmware for it because it complains the 'flash' is not present. It's probably not a big deal either way. If the laptop supports it though I would like to check it out just to check it out :)

Oh, I see it now. It's a $0 option. Is there actually hardware involved with that or is it all software? Hmmm...

If you have Latitude ON, I think all you need to do is install Latitude Reader... I have Latitude ON and it won't let me install the Flash firmware either. Check the BIOS to see if it says whether or not you have Latitude ON/Reader.

Well after many months of searching I've pretty much decided that the Dell Latitude E6410 will be my next laptop. I'm seriously considering buying from the Dell Business Outlet and have a coupl of questions:

What differences have you found between Previoulsy Ordered New and Certified Refurbished laptops? You'd think that similarly previously ordered new would command a higher price than those certified refurbished, but in many cases that's not true. I've read Dell's descriptions but would like to hear from some of you that have actually purchased each type.

How often does Dell usually put out coupons for the Business Outlet?

Thanks in advance for your help!

From my understaundg (as I don't have this laptop, but I looked into it when at the E4300. I have the E6400 (it doesn't support Latitude ON)

    You have 2 Latitude ON.
    - With the card
    - Without one.

With the card is the real deal. Where it powers up it's own system which consumes less power (I think now it uses your CPU and not a ARM processor like the old version)

Without it, it's just an OS installed on your system.
