For those bothered by the Dell Outlet listing design, there is a work around: when you click a system from the list, press ctrl at the same time to let it open in a new tab. Then you have the list untouched in its own tab and can go back to click on another system. Hope this helps somehow.

Could I ask, I've seen references to coupons for the Dell Outlet. Is there some place where those are aggregated, or perhaps one should just follow this thread? I'm considering using the Outlet in a couple of weeks (that or go through the Dell Campus store, which gives me some nice on-site warranties and battery warranties, but still is quite more expensive).

i wish this worked properly with the new outlet site... duplicating the list window loses the filters, and opening a system listing in a new tab shows me a previously viewed system--not the latest one i clicked on. I've tried in chrome and ie.

Does anyone have two identical (or similarly configured) E6410s with integrated Intel GPU and the other with nVidia GPU?

While we are on the topic of Dell outlet, I wonder how do you know which unit have PCMCIA and which have Express card? Or is it not possible to find out?

Quick question. I just got my 6410 and moved my hard drive out of the 6400 to it and installed all of the needed drivers. All is well. My prob is that the display brightness is constantly fluctuating even though the ambient light sensor is disabled in BIOS. No Controlpoint software installed. Interestingly, this only occurs when on AC power. On batt the brightness is steady. At first I thought it was an issue with the AC adapter, but a 2nd one does the same thing. What am I missing???

Now that folks have had some experience with their machines, I'm curious as to whether people who bought one with an i7 chip are finding:

    1. It runs hot

    and/or

    2. Battery time is less than optimal (say, less than four hours browsing the web and doing word processing, with a 6-battery option)?

Any input would be most welcome.

    Thanks,

    sdc

You must remember that battery life decrease over time. So a laptop with 4 hours of battery life can quickly become 2 hours, in a mater of months.
For instance, my 9-cell battery on my E6400, I had almost 9 hours max (see signature for specs), today, a year and a half, I only have about 3 hours max (getting close to 2hours and 30min soon).

So you want more, so tat after a year your laptop battery is still adequate, so that you can enjoy your laptop battery for a full year or year and half, and not running buying an overpriced battery from Dell every 6 months.
