Probably actually means a 56k modem. All e6410s have Gbit onboard AFAIK. As to adding it, you may be able to get a USB 56k modem. Probably have to look around a bit, modems are pretty out of date at this point.

In both cases you're getting integrated Intel Graphics. However, there is a choice between a PC card and Expresscard slot. Expresscard is the more recent standard, although PC card still hasn't gone away.

I just paid a visit to Dell online store on the Latitude E6410, and I do see that now there is a "no wireless" option... Wow, I never knew Dell that desperate to have a low starting price. :S

I don't see that option? Are you looking at Dell's US site? Link?

Well I just pulled the trigger on two of these for my office. One is going to replace my D830 and the other is for an intern. I got everything I wanted in mine except for bluetooth but I don't use it all that much anyways.

    Here are my specs: $674.25
    Win 7 Pro
    Ultrasharp WXGA+
    Core i5-430M
    4 GB RAM
    250 HDD
    24x CD-RW/DVD (I know its not a DVD burner)
    Intel 5100 card
    Back-lit keyboard
    Nvidia NVS 3100M
    Slate Silver

    Intern sepcs: $546.75
    Win 7 Pro
    Ultrasharp WXGA+
    Core i5-520M
    4 GB RAM
    160 HDD
    8x DVD+/- RW
    Intel 6200 card
    Back-lit keyboard
    Intel HD Graphics
    Dell 375 Bluetooth
    Slate Silver

I think I got a pretty good deal from the outlet on these. It should be a great improvement over my D830. Oh and what is a "contact-less smart card reader?"

Very nice deals. Why don't those prices get to the UK? We pay in Pound Sterling what you pay in US$ and then have 17.5% VAT added on.

That smart card read is what is says (although I've never seen one work). Put your smart card close to the sensor and the computer will recognise you and let you use it. It's something only likely to be used in big corporate environments. For the rest of us, the security software does bog the system down and is best left off.

    Question about memory:

I am reading specs and it says "1333MHz memory will run at 1066MHz"

Would that mean that E6410 does not support higher that 1066MHz speed and there would be no benefits from the faster memory?

    Thanks

I can confirm that 1333MHz RAM runs at 1066MHz (IIRC this is a chipset limitation with only the quad-core CPUs letting the RAM run at the faster speed) However, you may see a slight performance boost if the timings of the 1333MHz RAM running at 1066MHz are faster than the normal 1066MHz RAM. if you don't know anything about timings then run CPU-Z and look at the SPD page.
