    OK, so I should have moved my #03 step Intel Chipset Software to first, and the #05 dell system software to #02, then everything else in order.

    Could it be that the Dell System Manager and the IgfxTray loading together at startup caused the Windows Performance Alert?
    The alert box states I should consider uninstalling igfx driver, but don't I need the Intel HD driver? It's the only display adapter driver present.

    There's no fingerprint reader but Broadcom USH was installed. Can this driver be uninstalled without creating other issues?

    I disabled from startup Broadcom Wireless mgr, Dell System Manager, HotKeyCmds, IgfxTray & igfxpers with no problems. The Dell system manager removal helped the most. I can now get to internet access in one minute again, and still access most if not all removed startup functions via the control panel.

    Those are required software, yes? So they should co-exist. It helps to isolate conflicts as you install things. And yes, you need the Intel video driver.

    Sounds like you should have skipped the pig DCP Security module/drivers. I did and simply disabled the Broadcom USH device in Device Manager.

    DCP System Manager in Startup here does not seem to cause any delays. I do not have the Dell WAN.

    Thank you for the feedbak GKDesigns.
    I went for almost a week after the clean install until I received that conflict alert. It popped up after I installed the Dell ControlPoint software (which installed the Dell System Manager in startup, so it makes me think the software has the issue rather than the driver. I haven't received the alert yet, since removing Dell system manager from startup.
    I had read about avoiding installation of the security software and think I was careful not to do that. I guess I'll just let the Broadcom USH driver disabled as you have, rather than uninstall the driver.

    Those are my exact load times (no password) for my Vostro 3300 i3 370m w/ same Hitachi 500gb 7200rpm drive I have in the 6410... 35s to IE explorer open.

    There must be something wrong with my 6410, driver or BIOS settings.

    But it took twice as long to boot when I received the E6410 from Dell, and before I did the clean install.

    Regarding the Broadcom USH device, since I did not install its driver, it was always banged in Device Manager... listed but not working since no software driver was installed. So then I right-clicked and disabled the device... not the driver... device disabled, no driver ever installed.

    The stock install on my E6410 was disturbing. I must say it had some major DPC issues etc. For sure clean install is the way to go

    i suppose i should come in and say hello.

    i was a former dell studio 1537 owner that wanted something slightly smaller yet equally if not more powerful.

    specs are as follows:

    latitude e6410
    core i5-450m
    1 x2gb PC3-10600 DDR3 -> 2 x2gb PC3-10666 DDR3
    seagate (?) 160 gb 5400 rpm -> toshiba 256 gb ssd -> wd 160 gb 7200 rpm
    nvidia NVS 3100 M
    regular keyboard -> backlit keyboard

    looking to add on in the following in the future:
    6 cell battery -> 9 cell battery
    1280 x 800 -> 1440 x 900
    second 2.5" hdd (in place of optical drive)
    e-series docking station

    that's it for now. there's a lot in this thread to go through, so i'll have to read up...

    Hi,
    I am quite happy with my E6410. However, after a month of usage I have noticed something weird in my laptop. The left corner of the palmrest (just above the SC slot) is not fixed to the bottom part and thus it has some flexing, that causes an annoying squeak when I put my hand on it. I prefer to fix it myself rather to call a technician. Is there a screw that I should fasten or it is a more serious problem?
    Thank you.

    Hello everyone.

    I am interesting in this laptop but I am confused about the hard drive available in the machine. Is it SSD or not? I would like to have a set-up with an SSD drive for the OS and a regular drive for data. Is this set-up possible?

    Thank you.
