Uninstall your graphic card drivers, restart your computer, and install Nvidia's latest driver 260.99:

That was the first one I tried after I was staring like "w t f" at the TV... I'm starting to worry

I also called dell support, just after 30 minutes of listening to the same 5 sec piano sequence I was connected with a guy who asked the following questions: Does it have a displayport? On which side? Does left mean where your left hand is? Why would it work with hdmi if it's a displayport? Woah, does displayport support hdmi?

Anyway, thanks for your post :)

The DisplayPort socket is on the back of the E6410. It supports HDMI and DVI using suitable cables.

See Wikipedia for how it works.

bought my new(and first) latitude yesterday, and i'm very happy.
at first glance i thought that it is too small, and i should get the 6510, but after using it for several hours i adapted to it's size quickly.

    my spescs are:

    # Dual Core i5 Processor at 2.4Ghz
    # 4GB Memory
    # Intel 6200 Wireless
    # Ultrasharp 14.1" 1400x900
    # Discrete Nvidia Quadro Graphics
    # 3MP Webcam
    # Backlit Keyboard
    # 6 Cell
    # 3YR Standard
    # Latitude Flash
    # 320GB 7200RPM
    # Fingerprint
    # Smartcard reader

    some impressions:
    1) i was afraid of the 1440*900 resolution, and making text difficult to read.
but right after i loaded windows i noticed that it is not that bad and after several hours of use, i was completely comfortable with text reading.
    2) i'm really surrprised with the speakers quality, it lacks bass and some mids, but the highs are extremely crispy clear and loud. video chatting is very good.
overall very nice speakers, for a business laptop.
    3) the thouch pad is alittle bit smallish, but with two minutes playing with the setting can give you really nice results. for me it's fine.
    4) overall build quality is very nice, thoug i do notice some minor flex on the plastik covers here and there. there is also a small flex in the keyboard, but nothing bad. i'm absolutely shure that the gray "metal" look cover is plastik and not metal.

those are my first impressions so far, as i said before i'm very happy with my new purchase.

merry christmas and a happy new year!

Glad to here you like your purchase.
So, now your new year resolution is 1440x900.. ;p

I have the Latitude E6400, and it's been 2 years old, heavy used. And the laptop looks like new (other than the normal wear of the keyboard). It gets carries to university everyday of the week, including some week-ends. Solid system.

While I can't comment on the E6410 cover as I never touched it, the E6400 cover is very well in metal. I thought like you it was plastic, but it's really a very thick coat of paint (or 2-3 coats of paint), on a primer. I already got my LCD changed, and the inside you can see primer paint, but if you look closely as some areas where it's scratched at the inside by installation of the LCD panel, you can perfectly see metal. Also, in Winter here, the laptop cover and base is very cold, after a trip outside to go to University. SO if Dell didn't change the cover, just the paint color from black to silver, then yes it's in metal.

If you use a lot your laptop, you may want to still get a mouse. Touchpad is fine, but I think we can all agree, even on the best touchpad around, it's not great for heavy mouse usage purposes. My personal recommendation for a good mouse, is the Logitech Anywhere Mouse MX, which should go nicely with your laptop. My VX Nano (discontinued) goes like a perfect match with the laptop, you would think it's Dell that designed it with the laptop. But other than cosmetic looks, Logitech mouse is solid. I drop mine countless of time on hard floor, and the mouse is still working perfectly fine. The battery life is very good, tracking is nice, the scroll wheel is superb especially if you work with programming or long text. And all buttons are re-programmable to anything. I made the button bellow the scroll wheel as middle button, which is needed in Win7, as pressing on the wheel switch the scroll wheel mode from click to free-spin mode. The Anywhere MX works on glass. I have another desktop mouse using the same technology, and yes it does work perfectly, even on my window. Also has a super small "nano" receiver. Expensive, yes, but worth the money in my opinion.

Enjoy your system! and Happy new year!

Ah! Nice little mouse. Simple, basic, but solid. It won't let you down.

Most everyone has taken to carrying a mouse with the laptops, few bother with the touchpad or eraser point. Myself included, but I keep a bunch of Logitech Trackballs stashed around. I love those, both types, the thumb roller and the finger roller type.

The eraser point can be downright annoying on the E series, we have users that will yank off the head so they don't bump it while typing. it's surprisingly easy to do that.

It's got so bad that dell sent us a bag of replacements.

You know you can disable it in the mouse options, all by keeping the trackpad.
