I've just received my 3G card (Wireless 5540) from ebay, but I'm having trouble with the GPS, can't get a lock at all.

It is outputting NMEA information but primarily I was wondering if there could be an antenna problem? I connected the antennas according to the colour coding (white is main) on the device...

Edit: never mind, once I enabled assisted mode it was able to lock

When I tested the Expresscard USB 3.0 earlier I was using my GF's laptop since I didn't realize I had ordered mine with PCMCIA.

So I thought I would just switch them out but I found out the hard way that the slot is part of the mainboard. :(

And I can't switch the mainboard since mine has NVIDIA and hers is Intel. :(

    AGH!

Wonder if the E6410 webcam can be upgraded to the one from the E6420.

I answered your question... the E-Series Dell sleeve you posted is sold by Dell on Dell.com.

It has extra space in it and should fit over the 9-cell which only adds about a 1/2".

    That's Dell Neoprene Sleeve 14",
    Manufacturer Part# : HW565 - Dell Part# : 330-4084

You should be able to find it on Dell.com by name or either of the numbers above.

It looks like the 5530 card is designed for American 3G (specifically, AT&T, HSDPA, HSUPA) while the 5540 is designed primarily for European 3G (GSM, GPRS, EDGE, HSDPA, WCDMA, HSUPA). Some providers use GSM and the 3G protocols related to it in the US as well, but I think they use different frequencies.

I bought a 5540 WWAN card from eBay and it works well in Norway, which uses EDGE, UMTS and HSDPA.

By coincidence, I have just been trying to get the 5530 working on my E6410 (W7-64). I can't find a driver that will install. I get error messages such as this:

Has anyone had their E6410 waking up from sleep by itself in the middle of the night? A number of times I put the E6410 into sleep for the night and in the morning I find that it has no battery, which means that it probably turned on by itself sometime in the night...
