I don't know if this works, but I am about to try it.

I removed the smart card reader from my E6410. I don't need it nor will I have the use for one. This requires complete disassembly of the E6410 which is a major pain in the .

This MIGHT give you the extra clearance needed to fit a 12.5mm 2.5" 1TB HDD, since all 2.5" 1TB HDD's are 12.5mm and not the 9.5mm standard height.

But that's not it. A metal structure (part of the chassis) goes right over the HDD bay and also needs to be removed to gain the extra clearance. To remove this piece of metal you will need to hack it off. Be careful to not get any metal shavings onto the exposed motherboard.

After the removal of these (2) obstructions you MIGHT be able to fit a 2.5" 12.5mm 1TB HDD.

I am waiting for Newegg to have another deal on the Samsung HM100UI which usually goes on sale for $80 (I think) every few months.

I didn't need another one but how could I pass at a price like this and with those specs + a dock. Let's hope this guy is legit (100% rating)

Wow, that's a deal. I especially like the Blu-ray drive that the listing implies is included. The seller does have a couple of negative feedbacks, but they're too old to affect his feedback percentage. I hope you get it, and that it's as described.

I want to delete my recovery partition, and then expand the size of my C: partition. I propose to try to do this using Windows 7's Disk Management tool.

What I want to do seems risky, but I need the space. If anyone's done this I'd like to hear from you. Did it work? And opinions are welcome too.

(When I first got the laptop I used GParted to reduce the size of the C: partition and add a D: partition. I was relieved that everything still worked when I was done. So I could always use GParted if Disk Management can't do the job from within Windows.)

    Hi E6410 owners.

I'm thinking of buying one of these laptops. Our company uses Dell Latitudes exclusively, and I've been particularly impressed with the build quality and screen of this laptop. I've found that 14" screens can be hit or miss, but the E6410 seems to consistently have decent quality and viewing angles.

Here's my question: How hard is it to do a complete clean install of Windows 7 on this system? That usually the first thing I do when I get a new system, and I'm wondering how difficult it is to start fresh. On my HP 8440p, it's relatively painless.

This is a great forum, and I greatly appreciate the input. For about $900, I'm finding I can get a full loaded E6410 (new) off of eBay. Sure, it's not the latest and greatest (Sandy Bridge), but it's plenty fast for what I do.

Drivers take a while. I reinstalled a couple weeks ago after a nasty virus.

It's relatively painless. Just have to step through it. See the reimage note in my sig for a start.

Thanks Dreamliner330 and GKDesigns for the installation tips.

As Dreamliner330 mentioned, I picked up one of the systems he was selling -- very good deal on a new, fully loaded E6410. Looking forward to playing with it.

I'm sure I'll have more questions for the group, so stay tuned! :)
