The new Intel 320 series 600GB will be my actual choice.
Intel SSD 320 Series 600GB, 2.5", SATA II (SSDSA2CW600G310/SSDSA2CW600G3B5) | Skinflint Price Comparison UK
    [IMG] [IMG]
I need the 600GB for multiple virtual machines (10GB each and a little headroom for the future).
I hope the price will keep on dropping the next days,
as I want to buy it next week (my E6520 has now the status "in production").
Performance of read, write, burst, random and IOPS are ok for me.
Power consumption is important for me and is quiet good for the speed provided by this SSD (<0,7 Watt idle).

300GB and less are cheaper of cause.
Both SATA II and SATA III is supported by the E6520.
But these Intel SSDs actually are only supporting SATA II.
The Intel 510 series is supporting SATA III, but only up to 250GB.
Actually I have been using a Samsung 256GB SSD for about two years. The read performance of the Samsung is good. Write performance is kind of weak and support with TRIM-firmware is missing.
OCZ is fast, but the power drain is to high for my requirements.
So I will opt for the Intel 320 series for now and maybe later this year I will swap in a future SATA III device.
SSD alignment is important if you swap in a SSD and replace a disk drive.

    Manually:
    SSD Alignment Calculator | techPowerUp

The "alignment" is the "beginning" of a partition on a SSD to be geared to the first logical sector of the first partition exactly so that it matches a physical memory cell (Page) to the SSD. If this is NOT the case, whlie writing to the SSD's the following happens: Windows addresses a sector, which then goes unfortunately over a page limit of the SSD. So the SSD must take TWO physical blocks mapped to ONE logical block. This costs performance in writing (about 50%). In addition btw a shortened lifespan of the SSD.

"AS SSD Benchmark" can do an automated check for you (result in the top left corner: "OK" or "bad":
