lol well my fingerprints are still intact although i think i feel a little blister coming on, i hope not as its Fing painfull to type with an a blister would be even worse .....

im thinking its a short somewhere to , but it seems strange its just done it of its own accord it works fine most of the time , although for paying so much extra over the upek fp reader it is shocking how many times u have to coax my reader to take a fingerprint after standby or a logout .....

think i will have words with them about that too maybe try the other fp reader

Is this a new feature for protection? Like a car that electrocutes people trying to break in?

i have been in contact with a very helpfull news reporter of a very well known tech site who has been in contact her their contact from dell who now wants to contact me directly regarding this dodgy matter

i assume they will be taking my whole laptop though , im not too fussed i think i will tell them to keep it as thats twice in less than 2 months i have had fairly serious problems with this machine ,

thinking of maybe an HP machine or perhaps stay with dell (who i have now owned 6 latitudes an one inspiron) and go for a precision m4400 as i was originally going to go for the m4400 but the website wasnt giving me the configuration i wanted :(

Call dell and tell them you've been physically and mentally scarred, that you have nightmares sleeping and have suffer from post traumatic stress disorder... threaten to sue unless they make a settlement to equip us all with a fully loaded dell m6400 ;)

i think you should ask them for a better system as you have been mentally scarred and a good moral boost is welcomed.

It actually does hurt my finger when I use it too many times. It gets very numb.

well i have been in talks with one of there customer relation guys from the usa and he has been talking to the uk guys and trying to sort something out

i suggested an upgrade to a precision system but apparently the uk are saying i can have a high end xps e.g.g the m1730 but i checked it out and its really not what i want , for a start there not very pretty , it has a much slower cpu and for a 17 incher it doesnt even have the option of a quad core!

it will have one of those glossy screens which i dont like atall as far as i know they have no displayport or hdmi i would have to use a dvi to hdmi cable

no fingerprint reader although im not sure if i want one of these now lol

they are huge big clunky machines with no battery like compared to latitudes and even the precision would last longer than a dual gpu machine

thing is if they force me to take a xps and continue saying that its impossible to exchange for a precision i want a totally maxed out xps , and even then i still wont be too happy with it ...

ideally id have the upgrade to a precision for the better gpu and a quad core and i would be happy that dell have tried their best to make ammends and not push me towards getting hp machines in the future

plus the fact i am now on my 6th latitude as i was a big fan of them and i also owned an early inspiron before the latitudes ! id say im the kind of customer they should be bending over backwards to keep but who knows !
