However, that's the last of the Intel processor families that RMClock could undervolt. It's worth trying, whichever CPU you have. You might get the maximum temperature down by 10C.

When I bought mine it came with a stock T9900. It was very cool. The GPU was an Intel though.

yea T9900 + intel should be no problem..... T9900 + nvidia might be bad news

the E6400 with intel graphics is a classic....i wonder what else can be done, maybe copper shims to keep the nvidia graphics cool?

the E6410 is the one to buy though, if anyone is looking for a bargain.just as good as the E6400 but heat problems solved. i might see if i can snap one up from the outlet for my girlfriend. her aging acer is giving no end of trouble.

This guide by weirdo81622 will help the OP with the upgrade and shim mod.

Even with the x9100 (DTP 44W) the temperatures are still reasonable.

to the OP, is the Dell outlet an option for you? I was in the same boat as you, e6400 not cutting it anymore was able to find outlet machines 25-40% off average retail which made it worthwhile.

I live in the Netherlands we don't have the outlet here, but my E6400 works perfectly, so with 8GB DDR2-800, Nvidia, 320 SSD and t9900 i really don't see why i should upgrade. If i go for something new i would go for the new E3 series. with i7, DDR3 and white LCD, but not willing to part with 1.000 euro just yet.

I just thought I might throw this out there, though you've probably considered it. Why not buy used? I dunno what the market is like where you are, but I've purchased all my dells used (one was one week old, one 4 months and one 2 weeks, all looked brand new).

I know that t9900 is no slouch, but I just picked up a 6420 w/ a processor that runs circles around that t9900 (AFAIK) for less than twice the going rate of that processor. With how cheap it is to pick up a new laptop, it would be hard for me to justify $200 into a cpu. On top of all that, you get a stellar warranty -I'm good till 2014 (2015 on one)

Average cost of the laptops in my sig line: $382.50

edit: if you have an EC you could add USB 3

That's very cheap. It's not fair that the prices are these low in the US. I paid £310 for my E6400 when I bought it from ebay. The markup on the selling price is too high in Europe
