Dell does do a fairly good job documenting everything, but sometimes it is difficult to find a particular piece of information on their website. Plus, having access to the opinions and experiences of individuals via forums is a very useful thing to have.

As far as giving Dell a call though, that option is only available to those who have already purchased Dell machines. I would not trust the word of anyone at the sales department when it comes to thinks like this.

In the UK, Dell does offer theft coverage - and will replace as if your laptop was destroyed by accident in the event of theft.

Yeah, we here in the States don't have theft coverage. I think the OP needs to contact Dell and figure out why theft coverage doesn't cover theft in his case. Either Dell is screwing him or he is trying to screw Dell. Something is just fishy here.

I don't think anyone is screwing anyone. The OP heard something from a forum that contradicts what Dell advertises, and is using this to claim that Dell falsely advertises Complete Care Theft coverage.

If you google "Dell UK Theft", the first link is a PDF completely detailing Complete Care. If this is difficult to find, then follow this link:

Edit: Now it's the second link, since this thread is sadly the first.

Theft is not Dell to cover, but your house insurance.
Some house insurances plan cover your laptop even when you are outside of your home.

If you're worried about theft you can do one of two things:

    1. Buy and use a good notebook lock

    2. Find an old Compaq sticker to put on the notebook lid.

    Are you reading the replies?

The underwriter is London General Insurance. Hence the huge LGI at the top of the contract.

    Also, the first non-underlined sentence:
