Does anybody know if Prince_Phoenix 's review has been published yet? i really can't find it!
Another thing, can anyone test how long the battery last with wireless ON, web & file browsing and eventually working with a text editor or listening music...in other words, some "light working" :)

    Thanks to everyone! :D

You can do that from a USB-drive. There are plenty of laptops without DVDs out there. Eg, Dell 4200.

If you want to complicate things, yes. But it's only a few dollars.
And trust me, an optical drive is light.. all you have is tiny lens mini motor, and aluminum on the tray and plastic. You won't fell the difference if it was empty, unless you actually weight it.

Anyway that is how I see it.

I _do_ appreciate the input. But what I wanted to know was the actual weight of the drive. I like facts better than speculations. Also, it is 60 euros in my config system... But the weight is the primary issue.

    Oh ok.
Here at Dell Canada it's included. And if weight is critical, fair enough. Perhaps you call Dell and ask.

I dont see "travellite" module for the 4300 even on premier. It's one of reason I'm eyeing on 4200. I dont want to carry dead weight I will never use on a daily basis.

I weighed the bare optical drive for my E6400 at 147grams (= 5.2oz) including the release mechanism. In contrast, the LG-E50L external burner (one of the smallest and lightest) weighed in a 397g (14oz).

So a built-in optical drive doesn't add much to the weight. Personally, I wouldn't go far without one since I never know when I may need to read or burn a disc.

    Thanks for the info!
I barely use my drive. 147g is almost 10%. Carrying back and forth 4 times a week means carrying 61 kgs of dead weight. Worth considering... Ok, you can't really count like that, but then it's better get a larger battery instead.

I can order it without drive on http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/p...1078558&a=47079~0~237376&navla=47079~0~237376
