I recently bought a Latitude E6320 and the recommended dock the Simple E-Port Replicator. The issue I'm having is that when I connect my E6320 I cannot get any DVI output from the replicator. VGA works fine but the dual-link DVI connection just will not work.

I'm probably missing something obvious but even after two replacement docks and a new motherboard Dell have assured me they should definitely be compatible over DVI. But then Dell would say that wouldn't they rolleyes.gif

Any explanation/help would be gratefully received.

    Thanks,

    Things to check:
    - Are your nVidia and Intel drivers installed? Are you using the stock Windows install?
    - Does the Display control panel or the Intel/nVidia control panel sense the DVI display when it's plugged in? What about VGA?
    - Have you tried another DVI cable?
    - Are you using any sort of DVI switcher?
    - If your monitor has multiple inputs, is the monitor switched to DVI mode (NOT auto)?
    - What type of monitor is it?

What monitor are you trying to drive from the DVI port on the EPort?

Just FYI the DVI port is NOT dual link and will not drive 2580 resolution monitors. Its limited to 1920 resolution. The Displayport connector on the Eport will drive a 2580 res monitor.

I am using a dual link DVI cable as that's what worked (and still works) with my old combination of Latitude D630 and PD01X dock.

The new combination of Latitude E6320 and 452-10767 dock just won't work with the same dual link cable. Is the answer a different cable? The resolution is just old skool 1280x1024 on an 19" ATMT monitor.

    Cheers,

If it was from an existing, working system, then it's probably good and should work on the new one. Single-link should be perfectly fine for 1280x1024.

    Things to try/check:
    - if you are NOT using Optimus, verify that the nVidia display driver under Device Manager shows as properly installed (disabling Optimus in the BIOS and starting Windows tends to put it into a configuration without the driver installed for some reason).
    - if you ARE using Optimus, verify that both nVidia and Intel drivers are present under Device Manager.
    - verify that Display properties (for Win7) is showing that it actually detects the monitor.
    - press Fn-F8 or Windows-P to toggle to "Extend".

According to the specs here my Latitude E6320 has the Intel® HD Graphics 3000 video card and not an Nvidia.

Or am I still missing something? D'oh!

My bad, actually E6320 doesn't have any nVidia option, only Intel.

Since it's strictly Intel, I would still say check that the Intel drivers are installed. You might want to go to the Dell support site and try loading the latest ones.

Also, in the Intel control panel, it should tell you if it detected multiple monitors or not (there should be a dropdown box on some tabs/sections showing built-in display and (name of monitor) if you have multiple monitors)

Installed the latest Intel drivers etc and updated the BIOS and still no joy

Is it possible I need to try a single link cable as against a dual link?

The laptop itself doesn't have a DVI port but that shouldn't matter, should it?

If it doesn't detect it in the Intel or Display control panel, it might be a physical problem or a conflict between the two units. Have you tried another monitor?

Single link should be more than sufficient. It's when you start going over around FHD that it starts to matter.

If you have an HDMI to DVI adapter, you can test to see if the laptop's direct output works.

None of the E-series Latitudes have DVI output on the laptop, only on the dock. My suggestion is to try a different cable and then the monitor. Something is strange as this should not be that diffecult. If the Laptop has the up to date drivers for the intel video (the windows drivers will not support the external port displays) then it should work fine for a 1280 resolution monitor. I suspect a handshaking problem with your monitor and cable. Which one? Cant tell but the cable is cheaper unless you can borrow a monitor and cable from someone to try.
