This is normal. As said it's for easier pull out, also it's for compatibility with other Dell machines. using a 90W PSU. I don't know if you knew this, but your laptop will work with a 65W PSu from any other Dell laptop. It wont' go full speed and recharge the battery while turned on (it must turn off or sleep while doing so to recharge it) but it runs your system. Pretty cool no? I find it useful when you are stranded.

Hmm, there is trend going on where most Seagate HDD's has a loud motor. I have a Hitachi 5200RPM HDD, and I don't hear the motor in a quiet room. If it annoys you, check out Hitachi or Western Digital laptop HDD's, they are usually quiet (you can check reviews as well to make sure).

I just ran the Windows Experience Index and got a 2.5 for graphics performance... I have the Quadro 160M and didn't expect this low of a number... Is this normal?

Are you using the drivers from Dells site? Install new drivers from www.laptopvideo2go.com and then post what you get.

I just did that. It was 2.6 and I installed the latest drivers for vista x64 which happened to be 185.66 and my score went down again to 2.5. Nothing has changed in my system, but a week ago my score was 3.8. My gaming graphics is all the way up at 4.6

This is not normal. I had way higher score than this.
    You should have
    # Graphics: 3.4
    # Gaming graphics: 4.7
If I remember correctly. I can't give you my result because I overclocked my video card, and the score does not want to go lower, when I don't load the overclock profile.

    Try this:
    - Download Nvidia Dell drivers
    - Uninstall tour Nvidia drivers
    - Restart your computer
    - Install Dell Nvidia driver
    - Restart your computer.

See if you get a good score. if not.. then something is wrong. My diagnostic is a driver conflict, or something is not being cleared out from the driver change (perhaps look for a driver cleaner tool), or the GPU is faulty.

BTW, do you have Vista 32 or 64-bit?

Thanks, I'm running Vista x64. I'll try uninstalling these drivers and loading up the dell drivers to see whats going on.

With the default dell driver I get:

    Processor Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU P9500 @ 2.53GHz 5.4
    Memory (RAM) 4.00 GB 5.9
Graphics NVIDIA Quadro NVS 160M 3.5
Gaming graphics 2041 MB Total available graphics memory 4.7
Primary hard disk 91GB Free (119GB Total) 5.9

This is quite an improvement over the newer drivers... Something is strange there

The power connector shows about 1/8" of metal on my two systems. You may want to measure yours more accurately. The total length of the metal connector is only 1/2 inch, so if it shows 1/4" when plugged in, then yours is a little too loose.

Besides this connector issue or non-issue, what else about the Outlet are you not happy with? I see that you have been posting about drivers, but that is not an Outlet issue at all.
