Yes, there is.. hmm.. now to get it to work is another. Actually, has USB PowerShare been brought up in any of the E6400 reviews?

On the weight question, I can hold an open E6400 by one front corner, but it seems quite heavy (maybe I'm getting weak in my old age). The best way to carry the computer is with one hand each side of the keyboard. One benefit of the design is that there are no keys or other buttons close to the sides which then get pressed accidentally.

I find the internal audio chip gives good sound on external speakers, once the internal speakers are muted. If it isn't good enough, see this new Creative device.

0.3 megapixels is 640 x 480, which is about 1/4 of your display. OK, I think, for a video window in Skype. The sensor may have a higher resolution since there is some zoom capability.

I was also worried about the relatively square front edge, but in reality there has been no problem. The palm rest is adequately large (and stays cool) so I don't have my palms hanging over the front edge.

Yes. And you can set a battery capacity level at which the PowerShare will stop.

Not in the review, but I tested it a couple of weeks back by leaving something charging overnight without the computer connected to the mains.

BTW, Samsung shows what can be done, weight-wise in the 14.1" size. Unfortunately, no WXGA+ display option.

    John

PS: I'm now celebrating a full 4 weeks of E6400 use.

I recieved my e6400 today! My girlfriend use to say im cursed because when i buy something expensive it always makes me dissapointed. Maybe im picky but once again im dissapointed.

I have alot of "minor" issues with it, would be nice if someone could give me a comment on if im overly critical, if you got the same issue or if i should talk with dell about this. Here goes:

    1. the bottom plate is not tight to the laptop, its loose by a fraction of a milimeter and when i tap it there is a sound of the thin metal moving against the laptop, it also seems a bit bent in the front end between two of the spots where it hooks onto the laptop (hard to explain exactly how).

    2. One of the grilles over the speakers (the right one) is slightly loose and can be pushed inwards just a wee bit... the right one is firm like a rock.

    3. The frame around the screen is firm and nice all the way around exept on the top, in the middle. In this spot its possible to push the frame inwards, and this also pushes the LCD panel inwards a bit, not just locally but the whole top of the panel.

    4. The grey plastic pieces outside the battery on the back of the laptop are not fastened firmly and can be moved a little, especially if the battery is removed.

    5. The screw securing the DVD drive is missing.

So i know these are minor issues and probably they woudnt bother me to much if they weren't so many... or should i be happy with this?

Also one major issue: The samsung LED screen isn't very impressive, its light but its "dull" and vertical viewing angles are horrible... so much for paying extra for at screen that i thought would be good for watching films and editing photos.

There is not supposed to be a screw to hold the DVD drive. It's optional and businesses may opt for it to prevent employees from removing the drive.

Oh, and try removing the bottom cover and putting it back on again, incase it simply isn't in properly. Just remove the one screw and slide the plate forward.

I know what you mean. When I buy something expensive I want it to be perfect. I don't have any of those problems but I do have one that is tempting me to return my E6400.

The problem is something everybody I know says I'm crazy to care about but it annoys me to no end.

The Dell touchpad drivers cause Vistas animated cursors to stop animating.

I guess I have two options either return the E6400 and get a D630 (my second choice) or wait it out and hope dell fixes the touchpad drivers (I'm not sure they will actually do this seeing as nobody else cares about the stupid vista cursors enough to mention it.)

Oh its tough to be a perfectionist in the world of PCs.

Got mine yesterday, had a chance for a little play last night. Specs:

    P8400
    2GB x 1
    NVS160M
    80GB 5400rpm
    WXGA+ LED

Those are the major specs. Impressions so far: am very impressed. This is a great looking laptop. Nice and slim, one of the features I was looking for; when I put it next to my work Lenovo T60 it is about the same height, maybe even a little thinner. Build quality is great, love the metal look and feel. I got the Samsung screen I believe, and am quite happy with it, looks great and is miles ahead of the screen in my work lenovo.

Didn't get too much of a chance to do much else, will play over weekend. I will also install the P9500 CPU, 4GB 800MHz (CL5), Seagate 7200.3 320GB and 64-bit Vista I have ready to go and compare.

    Cheers,
    Stu

Logan, it seems that you are the only only one having that particular problem with the touchpad. Perhaps you should ask for a replacement while you are still inside the 21 day return peroid.
