I believe there is another way to tell: on an LED display the back of the display should be perfectly flat; on a CCFL display there is a slight angle near the top of the back of the display. Not totally sure about this one, but I'm fairly certain...

By angle you mean slightly curved? 'cause Mine is an LCD at 100% sure as I saw my screen in part, and the lid is slightly curve, when you put a ruler you see it.

No, that sounds like it's just poor manufacturing quality. The angle I'm talking about is an actual angle (much sharper than your curve) and should be visible without a ruler or any external aid. It makes the lid form a similar shape to the lids on the D620/D630 and D820/D830.

I bought an E6400 and noticed a slight wiggle with the battery that is on the side with the VGA and eSata ports. I thought maybe it was just mine that had the problem so I had Dell do an exchange for me, but the new one has a slight wiggle also. Do any of you guys have the same problem? Are they all like that or am I just unlucky?

Also my original one had an ExpressCard slot and the exchange has a PC Card slot. I want an ExpressCard slot but it already took Dell 4 tries to just to get all my other specs right. I'm really tired of calling Dell at this point.

WOW, Dell offices at your region sucks. Here, it's the ones of somewhere in Ontario, I believe (Quebec is right next there, and this is where I am). They are super ultra nice, and don't make mistakes. However, I may think why you have this problem. This might sound far fetch but my work experience in some jobs suggest the following: Some companies have training facilities for new employees.. and you might fall onto that. Ask for compensation of sorts for their mistake. I know I ask for compensation because they told me that the this laptop has Latitude On, but well in fact does not. They gave me 100$ to spend on anything I wanted with free shipping, and no expiry dates on that + they mailed me some coupons. (BTW, I did not even battle for it, I just asked and I got it).

Well, I say don't care, call them. It's more annoying for them then it is for you. Remember, keep you cool, be nice and patient, ask for the supervisor to ensure things are done right. Go over the system with him, and make sure everything is correct (LED backlit, proper wireless card, proper GPU, optical drive, etc...). Frankly, you should be able to keep the system until you receive the new one (so that you have a box to return the laptop), I mean the way bill last for 10 days, and if passes, just ask for a new one. This is what I did once. I just said that I need to return a system to you, but the waybill is not valid anymore, may I have a new one, at the moment it expire. Before, boxing your old machine, switch the HDD so that you keep your files and everything. As long as Dell has a Dell provided HDD in the return laptop, they are happy.

    Hope this helps!

On the email order confirmation click on the Order number it will bring up details of the modules used in the build.

    Example:

Module,Information,Cover,Back Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp Liquid
    Crystal Display,

    Module,Bezel,Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp,CMRA-MIC Roush/heelys

    RK197 Module,Liquid Crystal Display 14.1WX,Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp,SEC,R/H

Another clue is where the Dell Logo is on the bezel feel if its hot after a half hour or so of use ( inverter) it would be a CCFL. I been through this myself.

yes there is a little wiggle, this is intentional, and not at all a problem.
