Technician came over today and replaced the LCD bezel in a couple minutes.

Also, I chatted with Dell again and asked for the plastic SD slot filler (didn't have one after the motherboard was replaced). The CSR was planning on having a technician come over to install it . I asked if he could just mail it to me and he said OK and that Dell is not responsible for any damages upon installation. That said, is anyone willing to take a picture of the SD filler so I can make sure I have the right one when it comes? :p

It's looks like a SD card.. just black, says Dell on it and "www.dell.com" under it. On the back of teh SD card (where you have the connector) you have all the bumps, the only difference is that you don't have the pins.

I am not sure if this is just some random number, version, or the part number, but here goes: on the front of the SD card, bellow the URL of Dell website, it says K294G.

    I guys,
I installed a clear Vista 32-Bit SP2 for my new DELL, but i can't find the driver for Smart Cart Reader, and DVD ROM. The problem is OS recognize these two part as USB devices, and always have the Safely Remove Hardware icons.

How do i make the OS recognize these two part as their right roles: the system internal hardware, not usb devices?

Funny. It reads the same: USB Smart Card reader.

Isn't the SC reader the slot under the Left Palm (when you're typing)?

I did. No luck. Even with a Small Business account, it was the same price as their website: $100 + 15 s/h.

I need this drive to replace the stock one I have so I can use my "Dazzle" converter. I know I can buy and external one, but I figured instead of lugging an external around, I can just replace the one in my laptop.

Yes. Any ideals to solve it?

You need to install the Dell Control Point Security Manager DRIVERS:

    http://support.dell.com/support/dow...1&impid=-1&formatcnt=2&libid=25&fileid=296124

Note that this is different that the DCP security manager, which you don't need to install.

I'm not sure about the smart card reader but I know that the DVD ROM drive is removable and therefore correctly shows as a removeable peripheral device. My E6400 too shows the smart card reader as a removeable device. I've not installed the DCP security manager so I'm not sure it's the way it's supposed to behave. But I've not had any problems with it and it works fine.
