UPDATE: Dell announced on Feb 8 its new line of laptops, including the E6420.

From these two articles, looks like we have a mix of improvements and steps back:

    + 1600x900 option, anti-glare
    + Sandy Bridge
    + 9-cell (97Wh) Lithium Ion battery
+ USB 3.0 (optional, via optical bay)
    + HDMI instead of DisplayPort

On the other hand, we have
    - a new lame keyboard layout, while the old E6410's was perfect, with Home/End/Page Up/Down/Ins/Del placed exactly like on a regular keyboard (I haven't seen *any* other laptop with this sane of a layout)
    - rounded screen corners, which make the laptop look anything but business
    - apparently no Blu-Ray option, but it should be purchasable separately

I could potentially see it being delayed due to the Sandy Bridge/Cougar Point recall. I know Intel's apparently given the go ahead to device makers that they can use the existing "Defective" mobo's on laptop machines that'll never use that SATA port.

I don't know how this might affect the Latitude line though, with its docking connector and such...

The PCMag article says "Dell executives say they won't be affected by the Cougar Point issue."

Notebookcheck announced a release date of March 15.
