Latitude E6500 with P8700 CPU, Nvidia video card and Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.

On lid close the laptop won't sleep, even though it configured in power settings to do so.

I spent considerable time to search the web about the problem but couldn't find anything. Even, the location of "Lid Close Switch" I couldn't find.

Please help me, at least where the "Lid Close Switch" is located.

I've been having this same problem on my Latitude E6510, Win 7, 64-bit.

Mine specifically will not go to sleep when plugged into the AC adapter. If it is just running on battery it will sleep just fine.

Did you ever resolve your issue?

Did you check your BIOS setting? Also the sleep setting when AC adapter is plugged in?

This might be off the wall, but if you are docked, your power configuration might change compared to if you're not docked (or at least that's what I've seen on my old ASUS laptop on XP, not totally sure it does this on Dell E-series on Win7).

I would say double-check the settings and try closing the lid on that screen to be 100% certain if it's a lid button/sensor thing or a software-configuration-changing-in-the-background thing.

Start: Control Panel: Power Settings: Choose what closing the lid does.
