    Hi Everyone,

I just bought one of those notebooks from authorized Dell partner. Laptop originally had Qwerty UK keyboard layout. I told seller to replace that keyboard with Qwerty US (PL) keyboard with backlight. Machine is very good and I'm very pleased with my new work tool. There is one issue which do not allow me to sleep very well. The new replaced keyboard seem a little bellied, raised at middle on about 2/3 its length. I have unpleasant sensation during typing, the keyboard seems to hmmm... drum when keys are pressed. Everything else is ok with keyboard but this sound and sensation of empty space under keys is little disturbing. Is this normal or my part is faulty or mounted unprofessionally?

I'm programmer and I type quite a lot of text daily.

The notebook has 5 year ProSupport for IT and NBD but warranty isn't transferred to me yet. I want to report this defect to remove. It's my first dell notebook and I'm not sure whether report this keyboard issue to seller or wait to finish warranty transfer?

    Thanks a lot in advance.

    ps.
    Sorry for double post.

Sounds like the keyboard was no properly installed. Check the online manual... you may decide to fix it yourself. Others swap their keyboard successfully. I recall some advice to pre-warp the keyboard before seating it to ensure it is compressed/cambered into place. Use your good judgement on what bending the keyboard will tolerate, if any.

That is what I did when I swapped my normal keyboard for a backlit one. Bending the keyboard very slightly so that middle is lower than the sides should result in it sitting more snugly when in place and slipped into the chassis at the sides. The force used should only be that applied by holding the keyboard in both hands.

I didn't expect such rude method for fixing keyboard but I'll try it carefully. :). Thank you.

Alternatively, take out the keyboard and put some double-sided tape at the area where there is the looseness and then replace the keyboard. However, not too much tape or future keyboard removal will be more difficult.

The thought occurred to my mind to put some thin packaging sponge under keyboard, but I have some double-sided tape and I'll consider that way too. Thanks.

After some investigation with my keyboard I found then the guilty was the right item (I don't know how it's called, see image). It hasn't right angle. When I tighten the screw the keyboard get raised and bellied. When I bend this item a little to fix an angle the keyboard sits more snugly now. It is not ideal but much better than before. Some day I take better investigation and I'll write a few remarks to Dell on this issue.

    Thanks a lot for advices.

anyone else having problems with the power icon not updating to indicate status.

IE right now i'm plugged in but it just shows 83% remaining as if I was unplugged.

Sometimes it will show charging and when I unplug the icon stays showing my being plugged in.

Hello from Russia! Can anyone take some pictures of 1600x900 screen with different angles and black background? The video on youtube would be perfect... I'm desiding between fhd and hd+. I can find only one review of this screen (HD+) on notebookjournal.de, i know that fhd panel is good in terms of contrast/viewing angles, but what about hd+? That fhd could be so much for this screen size, but i'm worrying about contrast/color space/viewing angle of HD+.

    Thanks for replying.
