    Bumping this; currently experiencing this.

On power saver, just running Word.

    Same build.

    Anyone know?

Use Balance profile. Power saver purposely slows down your CPU and limits it's performance to save battery life.

Question about green lines on top of the screen while booting

    Specs

    i5 i5-540M
    4 GB Ram
    250 GB
    15.6" HD Anti-Glare LED Display (1366 x 768)

When I start my E6510 I see some green line on the top of the screen. This happens before windows starts, the lines flicker on and off during botting process. Any ideas if this is normal?

    Absolutely not normal.
It's either the monitor circuit board that is faulty or the GPU or wiring. I would communicate with Dell.

To check if it's the wiring or GPU, you can connect an external monitor to the laptop, and see if you see the same problem. If so, then it's the GPU. If not then it's the wiring of the monitor or monitor circuit board that is faulty and needs to be changed.

Ok I connected an external monitor to it but the external monitor does not get activated during booting. It come up on after windows is up and running.

    Intel GPU right?
Communicate with Dell, it's a hardware problem 100%, so there is no fix that anyone here can provide.
The Intel GPU is embedded in the CPU, so don't be shocked if Dell replaced the CPU.

Yes Intel GPU. I contacted Dell and opened a service ticket. Dell is sending me a box to send the machine to Service Depot. Thanks for all the help!

Is anybody else using a Verizon Wireless USB data card with their E6510? I've got a VZW USB1000 that worked fine when the laptop was new, but somewhere along the line the machine stopped detecting it when I plug it in. I've rebooted, uninstalled/reinstalled the driver software, to no avail. The OS is Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I'm wondering if it's something with Verizon's software or drivers because I have no problems using the device on my old laptop with XP.

I don't anything about this, but it sounds like your data card is broken.
Does it work on a different system?
