I recently got a dell M4400 and large external dell monitor. I purchased the e-port replicator. I should be able to dock my laptop and use an external monitor and keyboard/mouse. OK - I can do that, but when I shut my laptop, the whole thing shuts down. Is this correct? I know I've used docking stations in the past and didn't have to have the laptop open. If I do, what is the point of the docking station?

The E-Port replicator had pretty much no documentation. Also, when I dock my laptop, shouldn't it see the docking station? Even when I run 'find new hardware', it isn't found.

In Windows power management what action is set for when you close the lid? I have my E6400 set to Do Nothing.

I've not noticed the e-port show up as an explicit device. If you look in Device Manager you should see the various e-port features listed, such as a serial port.
