Well, so far, the only game i have ran that has no issues is Battlefield-heroes beta. It is a cartoon shooter and it is fun. i guess that is what i will play until they can resolve the crash issues.

One thing i noticed and it may not matter at all. The fx3700 has open gl 2.1 capability but all of the nvidia drivers say full open gl 3.0 support. Can that cause an in game conflict with open gl on these workstation class cards. Albeit still is completely random?

These crashes are not random because I can recreate it every time in a game by going into the same area and doing the same task.

The problem seems to have improved in Warcraft3 TFT when I type in -opengl in the target (under properties); crashes still happen but less frequently.

My m6400 does not crash at all when playing Battlefield2, but crashes fast when playing guild war and half the time in TFT.

    I use xp32.

Hmmm sorry folks, I haven't had any notifications about this thread being replied to in the last week or so, and I just came back by chance and noticed a lot of activity :)

I didn't find a solution yet, but its not just WoW it seems (as others suggest also; I had it crash today while playing LotR: Battle for Middle-Earth - same black screen issue).

Hi Bill. I am not in the US unfortunately but appreciate your reply. Perhaps you could point me in the right direction of who to speak to from the UK.

    Thanks.

    Lozman.

Well, I was hopeful that the 190.15 drivers might curb this problem a little. It didnt of course and can anyone else confirm that.

I haven't tried that driver, but I have tried 186.08_win7x64 from the laptopvideo2go site with the modded inf file, and this is the only non-Dell supplied driver I've tried so far that drives the LED screen at the correct brightness.

However, it doesn't fix the crashing problem :(

I'm going to try and contact Dell tomorrow and direct them to this thread.

Has there been any resolution to this problem from Dell?
I get random black screen crashes when running Far Cry 2.

    m6400
    Vista x64
    Quadro Fx 3700M
    256G ssd
    8g RAM
    Dell supported nvidia driver 179.50
(I get blue screens w/ 179.68 when I plug in an external monitor.)

I've not managed to get through to anybody useful at Dell yet. Tbh, I don't find their domestic telephone support service very good unfortunately.

@Dell, if you are reading this, you can see this is a problem for several people with this make/model notebook. Could we get some advice/assistance in this thread of how to go about resolving this issue.

    Thanks,
    Lozman.
