I used the exact same hardware and the exact same software and drivers as the last two times.
The only thing I did differently was take it completely apart and reassemble it.
Maybe the video card wasn't seated fully or some other cable might not have been.
It's now been nearly a month and no crashes :D
I'm keen on putting Windows 7 on it but I'm afraid to now that I have it running perfectly

Sad to report that i think i have to put myself up on the ranks of this thread...

i've been pleased with my m6400... overall very solid and very nice machine... but sadly, it gave me black screen crash 3x already...

twice during wow, once during web stuffs...
not sure if i have the patience to stick it out and go through the annoying fixes and such...

i've chatted with dell tech... it seems i will go through a series of do this and that before we schedule a tech to come in...

    oh the hassle...

should i just reassemble everything like Airblazer did?
or should i wait for replacement graphics?

ya know... aside from this hiccup... i'm pretty impressed with the m6400...
the only area that gets hot is the back end near the interface for the dock...

but as far as the keyboard or palm area.. not hot at all like my studio 17 which the HDD is right under the right palm... or the voodoopc envy...

well, i'm going to try the reset the lcd cable as they told me to do... and i probably will be calling them again tomorrow...

did you reapply aftermarket TIM with like Arctic Silver?

can you tell me what are your idle temps for CPU and GPU?

    thanks!
