GPU memory is usually determined by the ODM, so it's quite possible that the new Quadros will be GDDR5 for Dell (while others might choose regular DDR3). This was similar to last generation where HP had a GDDR5 FX 1800M while Dell used a DDR3 version.

I was told that the pricing for the M6600 would be similar to what the M6500 was when it came out in Dec 2009.

I have also been holding out for a look at the M4600 or M6600 to replace my old M65 & V1710 (working in tandem). I plugged in http://www.dell.com/us/business/p/precision-m6600/pd today and it says "Call for Pricing" / not available in your business segment. Yesterday it said that this was not a valid page. The "Call for Pricing" was the same thing I saw the day before the E6x20s came out. Trying not to get hopes up but... Anyone else heard anything?

@Bokeh - Do you know product codes for these like you did for the E6x20s?

I've been trying the same thing :D, and I'm sure the "call for pricing" message is new (unless I was plugging in something slightly different than your link).

The "may not be in this business segment" message; I've seen this before. It has something to do, I believe, with what page (segment) you previously visited. I got my hopes up in the past only to come to the conclusion that the page could look very different based on cookie or session data Dell used to track usage.

Hi guys, what material is used to new M6600 (or M6500)? Is both the LCD lid and palmrest aluminum? I have a Lenovo now and they have great materials, I am considering M6600 because lenovo discounted 17" models. But I am aware of that material, because if it is aluminum I think it must be always hot/cold and this is pain. I had Enermax alunimum keyboard once and it is really very unconfortable. Thanks.

I have a 6300 with an aluminum lid, but the palm rest is the standard molded plastic. I really doubt that the 6600 will have anything metal-like for the palm rest.
