They are likely going to offer the existing Samsung 470 which is not bad at all. Samsung and Intel are the most reliable from my experience, and I believe that's why the big manufacturers like Dell, HP and Lenovo use Intel.

Awesome - thanks for the reply! The system is for Solidworks, so a fast processor will be paramount, as will good ram and a fast drive (and yes, SSD would be fantastic).

I'll by a 15" package, because I would rather just purchase a second monitor, keyboard and mouse and leave them at my agent's place in Asia - that would be ideal.

So, how can I max out - or almost max out (don't need bleeding edge!) a M4600?

Ha ha - and I can take the max out of my wallet at the same time. :)

From having read through many pages on this thread, I'm guessing that there are those of you who are planning to pick up one of these notebooks and then use 3rd party ram, drives, etc... That's probably more the information that i'm looking for, though it's probably just best to take a wait and see approach what happens when these come on the market and they start getting upgraded through official and "unofficial" routes...

It think apple is just using common sense, plus they spared effort to redesign MBP, which in turn will make them even more benefit, since lots of people would switch, now when only WUXGA Sandy Bridge laptop is MBP. I nearly went to buy one also, but then went through reviews to find out they really overheat win osX, not to mention Windoze.
Using 15.6@FHD means 140ppi, and that is not very pleasing on eyes. I use VAIO Z 13.1@1600x900 which is 140ppi, for meetings, and it's good for several hours. But working all day on it, is just a bit strain, but the display is so awsome, bright and sharp, that I don't want to use my 17" rock laptop any more.

For the intel PFF, I find it hard to believe, that parts can not fit in 16/10 form factor. I think companies like DELL, HP, Lenovo have engineers, that don't study market, so they just follow their financial people =easy road (decrease bill of material price and keep MSRP = more profit) So they will wait a year or two then they'll go back to follow Apple, like they invented something new.

Any indication on where this is in terms of a release date? I am trying to hold out for this but don't know what to expect.

I've been watching this thread and the other. I think someone needs to talk with dell every day, and let's see how many different answers we get.

Well, as a reseller, I talk to Dell every day and every time there's a different answer. One thing is certain, since our business account manager doesn't have an ETA yet, we can assume it's greater than 2 weeks.

Anyone have any idea what the starting price for the M6600 would be?
