    I'm assuming the 1600mhz from dell is "DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)"? Would "DDR3 1866 (PC3 15000)" work as well?

    Hi,

Quick question. Will it be more cheaper if i order my RAM from other dealer instead of configure it at Dell site for M4600? Seems like abit more expansive/ripoff in Dell site.

Also, does anyone know where can i find 8GB RAM (1 Dimm) for M4600? I am trying to configure 32GB RAM.

    Thanks in advance.

Is anyone aware of any effective ecoupons or deals like Lenovo has with Visa that are compatible with the M4600?

Also, in case anyone was curious about this, the graphics card for the M4600 is NOT upgradeable in the future. This seems to be the industry norm with the exception of the MXM-equipped machines. Sure enough, the Dell chat rep confirmed that the M4600's graphics card is soldered in place.

    I would like your advice.

    Should I buy the M4600 or M6600?

Money is no object. I need speed (scientific computing). I almost always use my machine in a docking station. I take it home every day. I only use the laptop screen on airplanes. I don't care about games or movies. I don't need IPS (whatever that is), but I wish I could get 1900x1200. I will have 8-16GB RAM, and two Vertex 3 drives in RAID0.

What other factors would help me make this choice?

I would suggest that you buy a Lenovo. Assuming they make anything comparable to the M4600. Let me know how that Lenovo chat goes when you ask them about the IPS display.

If you don't care about the difference in graphics cards between the M4600 and the M6600, and wouldn't mind 1080p in 15.6", then I'd get the M4600. More portability for when you do carry it places, same screen resolution (provided you get 1920x1080. Don't get 1366x768 even if you're using external monitors most of the time, it's an awful resolution for a mobile workstation.), and basically the same CPU options.
