Does anyone have stats comparing the Firepro and Quadro GPUs? According to Notebookcheck, the only site that seems to have the GPUs in their comparison chart, the M5950 is ranked higher than both the 1000M and 2000M and yet, the nVidia GPUs are upgrades.

Raw performance wise the firepro is more powerful than the quadro's. In PRO applications the situation is different, hence the price difference :)

No problem, let me try and clear this up. Dell does NOT solder the GFX GPU down to the motherboard on either the M4600 or the M6600. We use an industry standard MXM GFX card. With that said, there are no Dell kits for you to purchase and upgrade your GFX card later on. If you wish to purchase a GFX card and attempt this on your own than more power to you but that would not be covered by the Dell warranty. Hope that helps.

Thanks, here's what I have quoted at the moment for an M4600.

    Intel Core i7-2820M
    4.0GB, DDR3-1333
    Internal Backlit English Keyboard
    NVIDIA Quadro 2000M
    128GB Dell Solid State Minicard
    250GB Additional Hard Drive
    IPS Screen
    Dell Wireless 375 Bluetooth Module
    Slot Load DVD+/-RW Drive
    9-cell (97Wh) Primary Battery
Basic Hardware Service: NBD 5 Year
    Accidental Damage Service, 5 Year

    $3480

I'm planning on upgrading the memory and secondary HDD after purchase. A large portion of the cost is the 5 year warranty and accidental coverage, but I'm hoping this laptop lasts me 4-5 years.

Could you explain in what applications either card would perform better in? This is my first experience with workstation cards so I'm not sure how to compare them.

You're going all out aren't you? :p At that price, I don't see why a sales rep can't take a couple hundred or so off.

They did, which was nice. The build price was $3850. I don't replace my laptops often so if I plan to use it for half a decade, I'd rather go all out :)

From the link that Dell gives, M6600 will have IPS+RGB FHD screen, which is 100% color Gamut(I guess it's sRGB).
WoW. I will definitely wait for the release.
