The M4600 is one awesome mobile workstation. (My wonderful M6500 has been sitting mostly on the desk. :))

Is my understanding correct that, during online configuration, the 2.5" HDD/SDD options are shown under "Hard Drive" and the mSATA option is shown under "2nd Hard Drive"? Both option lists look almost identical to me, with the mSATA nowhere in sight.

Second question: How would I specify my configuration so that the mSATA serves as the boot/system/app drive (i.e. Dell will install Windows on it) and the 2.5" 7200rpm HDD serves as the data drive?

    Thanks!

Yes the primary HDD on the M4600 and the primary & secondary HDD's on the M6600 both support SATA 3.

On the M4600 the 128G SSD minicard should be showing up in the 1st spot. When this is picked the rules will allow the 2nd to be a regular HDD/SSD from the list. If this is not showing up correctly right now give it some time and it will be fixed.

The SSD Minicard will always be configured by Dell to be the primary drive and contain the OS.

I was wondering about that also. I could not get it to work so I just ended up ordering the 256GB SSD and figured I could add another SSD down the road via the mSATA slot.

On another configuration issue, does anybody else have trouble keeping the IPS screen option (M4600) and adding a Broadband option? When I do this it says the IPS is not available with the Broadband option. Why would that be??? My co-worker wants that configuration and we are both confused. Thanks!!

The IPS RGB panel can not currently be configured with mobile broadband.

Thanks for the quick reply Havoctex! Is it an antenna issue? Just curious.

Any news on when the IPS RGB LED and 5010M will be offered for the M6600?

I have an M6600 on the way and I bought 12GB (3x 4GB) of this memory:

    Newegg.com - Patriot Signature 4GB 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Laptop Memory Model PSD34G16002S

I assumed it would work no problem, but the above RAM discussions have me second guessing myself. I don't understand why that Crucial memory link someone posted above says with the Precision M6600 "Utilizing PC3-12800 maximum memory is 8GB." (that's the 1600 MHz ram.) Dell allows configuration with 16GB of it.

What do you think; will my 12GB of 1600MHz Patriot ram I listed above work?
