No, I can understand. The first time I scratched the lid of my M6400 (by carrying it this one time in some laptop bag which had a ZIPPER in the side of the laptop compartment which I only found out when I took it out), I could have cried so I'd probably notice any M6600 deficiencies compared to M6400 since they're of similar design (unless Dell decided to cheap out a bit here and there on the M6600 finish).

I wouldn't even consider changing the M6400, but the graphics card is getting rather slow for gaming in the 19x12 resolution and you can't upgrade it since it's not an MXM slot (perhaps the M7820 flashed to M7740 might work?).

Trying to decide if I should run Raid-0 on my setup.

    Currently have:

    i7-2920XM
    16GB of 1600mhz
    256GB SSD (sata3)
    M8900
    2nd hd is a 750GB 7200RPM Drive

I'm considering removing the 750GB drive, and putting another identical 256GB SSD in, and running raid 0

No reason of course, just for the heckof it, I hardly run matlab sim's at home anymore. Worth it to give up 500GB of portable space, or no?

Machine is already fast as heck startup, but I laptop/desktop performance is always addictive . .

    Current Bencmarks : AS SSD

    Sequential Read : 426.47MB/s
    Sequential Write : 285.36MB/s

Also, is our RAID hardware or software controlled?

I goto sell my 2nd M6600 (almost identical one, without SSD)

I have this one (based on the program listed in this thread to pull hardware info). I'm very pleased with the LG screen, maybe there is better out there, but its way better colors and viewing angles then my previous Studio1747, and M1710.

I need to find someone local that has the other Matte screen to check it out side by side. We can request new screens with the screen guarantee right?

Again, I don't think you can choose which panel you can get..

They arrange via availability, etc. And I'm not sure if you can get yours replaced if there are no defects in the screen.

I was running a PA13 (130Watt) brick on mine for some benchmarks. HORRIBLE numbers. I thought no way in heck could it use more, since all articles I read said it pulled 100 watts or so under full load.

But sure enough I put the 230 watt supplied brick (delta brand) and it screamed. I have a i7-2920XM (Extreme processor) so maybe that had something to do with it?

Either way I bought a 2nd 230 watt Delta bricket for my Eplus dock, and all is good so far . .

Only defect I have is the 2-3 lowest settings for backlit will make the screen flicker every 3-5 seconds. As long as I push up the backlit setting, it goes away. Which isn't a huge deal during the day, but at night it kinda sucks . . .

I just posted some benchmarks, if you want me to run any comparisons just post up. It's pretty fast, but not the fastest sata3 out there (like 5th-6th fastest). But, I would assume its ultra reliable to be a business class machine.

Intel is faster, and has a great track record though. I guess its a toss up . .

Mine always gets hung up, and asks for force shutdown. I think a microsoft issue. After I hit force, it shuts down quick.
