I have not looked in to it deep enough, but it would be at the very least a M6600 BIOS update... and most likely some MXM card socket pin reassignments and/or an AMD vBIOS update.

Hello Scott, I am getting confused here. Which is the faster the Corsair or the Hynix. I have tried the 2 different sets independently and as I posted recently a 45meg RAW file took 10-11 secs with the corsair and 1-2 secs with the hynix. Does this sound about right to you?

Are you aware of a decent freeware memory benchmark program?

This is free for 30 days: PassMark PerformanceTest - PC benchmark software

On paper, the Corsair CMSX8GX3M2A1600C9-9-9-9-24 sould be the faster of the two. Both are 1600MHz, but the Corsair has a lower latency rating.

You should not be seeing that big of a difference.

I noticed the HMT351S6CFR8C is 12800 but I assume it only runs @10600 on my system. Is this correct? Also I didn't reset the bios when I put the new memory in so maybe I should. It just don't get why Canon DPP takes so (8-10) much longer to load the photo with the Corsair. I will try the benchmark program.

    More confused than ever now.
I ran passmark and here are the results.
Overall Passmark for test. Hynix 1421 Corsair 1349.0
Memory Mark Hynix 1940.2 Corsair 2070.9
    Alloc Small Blk H 5619.8 C 5954.6
    Read Cached H 2123.2 C 2496.8
    " Uncached H 1972.1 C2278.3
    Write H 2053.4 C 2274.3
    Large RAM H 4912.5 C 5121.2

The Corsair memory appears to be faster but I am getting a massive performance drop in the Overall Mark which is conducive with the big difference in loading the photos.
    Any ideas?

Weird I just ran the test again as I realised I stopped the test previously on CD test. I now get 1764 so the Corsair is as you say. Thanks, looks like I will buy another pair.

hmmm, I have different opinion about it - one BIOS info had note about increasing frequency and in the Linux kernel/graphic cards registers description you have info about registers connected with it. It means, that in 99% it's software controlled.

Bad to worse. Now that I have established the Corsair is faster I have put the Carsair memory under the keyboard so as I can buy another 2 to replace the Hynix when I can afford it. So I have installed all 4 modules into the M6600.
The only problem now is that the memory reads as 1333mhz instead of 1600mhz. I have swapped the sets from Primary to secondary but no difference. Any ideas?

You have both sets of memory installed together? Are they both rated to run at 1600 MHz? Does it run at 1600 MHz if you install the Corsair alone? (I wouldn't be surprised if you find that you need to have all modules with identical timings to get it to run at 1600 MHz.)

Yep I think you have hit it on the nail. The odd thing is that the Hynix is 12800 and the Corsair is 10600 both times to run at 1600. I will order another pair of Corsair tomorrow. when I run the Performance test the Overall test is 1549 strange that when you rotate the pairs from primary to secondary the test changes by about 100 points but the RAM clock speed is always 1333.
