M6600 Owners Thread

I have the ATI FirePro M8900. I honestly didn't pay attention to the clock throttling, I specifically focused on the GPU temps. I am still a bit worried about that 83 degree temperature. I'd much rather see that in the high 70's. I just don't know if it's worth me breaking the CPU down and re-pasting everything.

 

I would recommend stripping down only if cpu temps are also high and hence need to replace. It is not hard, but still pain in the neck. And 83 is not bad for ATI card. Remember that furmark is literally the highest you get. With intense gaming you should be at mid to high 70s.

 

Thanks for the info. What program do I use to stress the CPU as well? Does Furmark do that too?

 

furmark is only for gpu.

Use prime95 64 bit.

using both furmark and prime95 can get tricky. Stressed cpu had made furmark run slower, causing less stress on the gpus before. It could have been simple power issue, but there are some unreliable aspects..

I would recommend trying to run them together. The heatsink for the gpu actually kind of relies on how hot the cpu is as hot air from cpu heatsink blows directly into one of the gpu heatsink which is right in front.

Some video card drivers will detect Furmark running and not allow it to damage the GPU. I know some ATI desktop cards do this. Not sure about notebooks.

The temps are from HWINFO64. I play at clocks a little lower. The AS5 supposedly needs time to cure as well, haven't gotten to the 200 hour mark as of yet. Ambient temperature will play a part too.

 

Like those said earlier. It's a one shot one kill or miss. Which means, you might break something, void the warranty of a very expensive machine and hours wasted.

Easier to get the temp down is crank down the air-conditioner in the room then let the m6600 fan do its job.

What I did was, mod 4 turbo fans (server grades) and connect it to a 12v adaptor, place each pair of the fans on left & right to blow air in. This is with the docking station.
