    The T-pad isn't awful..

It could have been worse but it is good enough for me.

But of course, I only use it occasionally when I carry this around.

You can turn it off Optimus from the BIOS.

Yep, got that spot on. My use of the touch-pad is probably less than 5%. It's because Dell's touch-pad is horrible ! Only good for basic surfing. Come-on. Do a better job on a machine where professional will pay over $3,000-$6,000 for the hardware, don't expect us to use it for surfing google and youtube ?

Dell do something. Else your market share will drop even further.

I think the trackpad is totally fine other than the one finger scrolling issue. I have had no issues with it whatsoever other than the scrolling. Also, I saw some people mentioning Synaptics drivers, can you install those for this touchpad? I am using the "Dell Touchpad" software and drivers, which I thought were different from the Synaptics ones. Are there Synaptics compatible drivers and software for the M6600 that I can download somewhere?

Thanks in advance for any help given.

like the touchpad is same as any other dell's including inspirons... I just expected everything to be exceptional. like cpu gpu ram all that stuff is non dell. What dell can charge a lot for would be chassis, mobo, touchpad, stuff that they actually have full controls.

Something must be seriously wrong with the CPU heatsink design on the M6600 - just one day after replacement and repasting, the temperatures are too high again (60C/90C), with the Core#0 being almost 10C cooler than the other three. :(

Blame the design if everyone is seeing the issue.

Blame the installation if you are seeing the issue.

Did they install screws that hold down the heat sink in the proper order? Did they apply too thick of a layer of thermal compound? Is there an issue with the actual seating of your CPU?

Yeah... I'll be calling them again. I did notice the asymmetric screw placement - is there any special order of tightening them?

Yes, they have numbers showing the order to put them in. The other issue is the thermal pad on the QM67 Northbridge chip that is a part of the chipset. You have to get CPU and chipset chip done correctly.

    Hi,

Just got my M6600 yesterday evening. Been having a little play with it. I'm about to reformat and reinstall and start from a clean slate. But before I do, I want to download the latest Dell Drivers, etc.

    1. My bios version appears as A07 on bootup. Is that the latest?

    2. How do I know which are the latest applicable Dell Drivers that I should download? I went to the Dell support page and there's so many listed. I have the Dell Resource Media DVD as a backup, but I prefer the latest from a clean install.

    3. Finally, dumb question. When I hover the cursor over the titlebar next to the minimize button, a little 2x2 grid sometimes appears. Click that and a black popup box appears. Then clicking the popup box resizes the window to fill screen. Is that what that grid is for? Anything else?

    Thanks in advance.
