Can't help it to see how well the look and feel of the Lenovo ThinkVantage apps were designed. Looks much better than Dell's apps.

    e.g.

    1. Dell Smart Settings App (will hang and not able to close to tasks bar)

    2. Dell Client System Update that does not work - reports older updates, failed updates and tons of different problems.

This has been happening in many different models from Precision to Latitudes. I'm just gonna write a complain to Dell Software Division since they have just got a new VP starting March 2012.

    Now, on the m6600 with the Win7 x64 SP1.

Just found out that I can no longer right click "Manage" from "Start" to open up the Microsoft MMC for System Management like Device Manager trees.

Works on my desktop PC beside also with the same OS and latest updates.

    Haven't started digging yet.

    Hey everyone,

Now that it's on its way from Star Forge, I'm looking forward to being a proud owner of a M6600. My plans for it are:

    Intel i7-2860QM
    ATI FirePro 8900M
    Kingston HyperX 16GB 1600mhz PnP
    Samsung 830 256GB SSD
    Seagate Momentus XT 500GB SSD/HDD

With the added RAM and SSD, it comes at $1625. How do you guys think I made out? Anything I should be aware in terms of issues of compabililty with these parts?

Also, are people still having the issue of the notebook sometimes not detecting the mSATA on boot and then needing reboot?

    See attached screen capture.

What's the total cost Dell and 3rd party? WOW ! I got mine at almost RM16,700 or USD5,419 with 3.1 RM to 1 USD all in.

The Samsung PM830 is ok with the m6600, PM830 is much better in performance on par with the higher range SATA3 SSD, unlike the PM810 (old firs gen SSD product since 2009) bundled with the old m6500 2010 - 2011 model. Everything else looks good.

    $1200 via Star Forge:

    Intel i7-2860QM
    ATI FirePro M8900
2x4 GB Kingston HyperX DDR3-1600 PnP
2x500 GB Western Digital Scorpio Black HDD's*
    DVD-RW
    Intel 6300N + Bluetooth 3.0
    USB 3.0/Powered eSATA/FireWire/EC Slot
    Swipe Fingerprint Scanner
    AUO 1080p Matte WLED LCD
    Backlight Keyboard
    Webcam (1.3MP) and Dual Microphones
Dell CompleteCare and NBD till 12/2/2013 (Extendable)
Dell E-Port Plus Docking Station w/ 210W PSU
    MobileEdge Notebook Sleeve

    Added by me:
2x4 GB Kingston HyperX DDR3-1600 PnP ($75 purchased from HeavenCry)
    Samsung 830 256GB ($350 via B&H)

    1200 + 75 + 350 = $1625 =)

Yea I was thinking if anything was gonna be fully compatible with a M6600 it would be a Saumsung since a lot of Dells that ship with SSDs are provided by Samsung.

I have seen this happen when I was testing different platter hard drives in the machine. One of them was an old Seagate 500gb drive that would occasionally not spin up quickly on boot.

The mSata was the boot drive. I had 2 other storage drives not in a raid array. The logic was that I could have a storage drive in the M6600 that was always in place next to the battery and also have a second removable storage drive in the in the tray that you can release with the latch.

If the Seagate HDD did not spin up in time, the Bios would reset the boot order and go for the other HDD data drive before the mSata.

I have never had an issue with the mSata drive itself. Only with other drives interacting with it.
