A lot. 10 hours with Optimus power saver with word documents and wifi.

5 hours? For those without optimus and surfing just the web.

Real world with Optimus is 7-8 hours if you have an efficient W7 build.

With 5010M and IPS (no Optimus) is about 3.5 hours if you are not wasting too much power.

Dam well I guess its decision time for me. Though I only really travel 3-4 times a year tops.

In a perfect world, I would have my current setup with the IPS screen installed. BUT since I do want my Optimus and other features not available with the IPS based model, I have the next best option (in my opinion). Since these systems really are desktop replacements and not focused for true mobility, I use my E series dock and dual Dell U2410 24" IPS displays for my daily office work and I am more than satisfied with the internal non-IPS display when I am travelling.

For true mobility where this monster is not needed, I revert back to the E6520 15.6" system so I am covered in almost all situations.

Regardless, I have evaluated a lot of systems and the M6600 is a winner so you cannot go wrong with this system. Good luck with your choice.

It's very good in various categories, but in some not so excellent.

Let's imagine ideal situation: Dell is taking AUO V5, adds some real matt surface on it (ask AUO or some 3rd party company for making it), fixes BIOS (gives much higher PWM frequency). And everybody is happy.... :D

I see so hmm I can use an E6220 if I had to for true mobility. Well I have pro support on my unit and the sales guy for our company said they could help me out. If not I guess I can exchange it.

Yes, any of the 6x20 systems are great and are built very tough for travel. I like that they all share the same dock interface as the M6600 too.

Yup, just how much better is the IPS over the standard M6600 1080p screen??

    Words can't explain the quality.

It is the best laptop screen out there, hands down.
