There are several people on this thread with the same problem. I’m just trying to figure
out the worse case. Replacing the display panel is no big deal, I Just want to know that’s all.
Giving me the runaround about it just confirms it.

Read post#1065 and Read post#1137 & post#1140 and the post in between as well as post#1170 just keep reading you will get the point, additionally read the links within this thread.

    *points*

    *sticks out lower lip*

The reason I mention it is that the last time Dell had an ~8 week lead time for me is the M1330 - and that went well (sarcasm).

In theory they could check the bios and see you changed the cpu and when, invalidating the warranty. In practice, speaking as a bod who had a job doing it and another dealing with guys who did who cares.

If you go out to swap a mobo because its burnt out you are not going to get into an argument with the customer because you think they overclocked it to save dell a few $$$.

Its human nature, who needs the hassle when you have the bit to fix it. Just make sure you have on site warranty.

FYI i am not sure if there is something wrong with mine or the i7-720 is just that fast but i havent been able to get it to clock up, i even compiled gentoo on it.

Since most compilers these days are multi-threaded, it'll end up using just about all the cores and thus the CPU won't turbo-boost except maybe by 1 bin. If you want to see significant turbo-boost, you need to run something that uses only 1 or 2 cores.

Is any of the dell provided SSD's worth the upgrade or should I just bypass all of Dell overpricing and buy an INTEL X-25M somewhere for hopefully a reasonable price? Maybe I should get both a covet and non covet to do a true comparison? Seems the information is somewhat limited on dell. This forum has been much more useful then Dell that is for sure. Thanks

    Hi Ingenuitor,
I ordered the new Covet to replace my old Precision M60 and for that I wanted the best system.
As I ordered the 5YR ProSupport and CompleteCare, I decided to order the SSD from Dell. In Europe, it is difficult to find a guaranty of 5 years for these kinds of items.
Today I am quite happy with the new system. I already posted a capture of the CrystalDiskMark test...
I only have a problem with the screen when I boot (nothing appear on the screen before the Windows logo). The Technical support proposed to change the Motherboard and the Graphic card... We do not know the reasons and I hope it is not the HDD.
If you need more information/tests please ask.
