    Giannini,

Can you check if your Covet with SSD x 2 RAID 0 supports TRIM?

To check to see if Trim is active start a command prompt as administrator and run:

    fsutil behavior query DisableDeleteNotify

If the result is 0 then Trim is on.

I checked already and it was 0 but I read in a previous post that was not a good test...

I don't know if it can help:
    - Contrôleur RAID Intel : Contrôleur RAID Intel(R) ICH8M-E/ICHM9M-E/PCHM SATA
    - SAMSUNG SSD PM800 2.5" 256GB (FW: VBM24D1Q)

WEI score for the HDD is 7.4:

    WEI score is so random!

My single Intel 2nd GEN 80GB SSD scores 7.7 but crystaldiskmark gives

    SEQ R: 245.3
    W: 86.42

    512: R: 180
    W: 79.88

    4K R: 13.87
    W: 19.91

(write speeds are poor as far as SSD's go on the Intel 2nd Gen but appart from installing software I never write to it)

    Hi tomcom2k,

You are right WEI score are random but it is still a good/quick app to be able to compare different computers...

Concerning the CrystalDiskMark, what do you think about my results comparing to yours?

Mine Single Intel : Yours (RAID 0 or Single SAMSUNG I can't tell) : % speed over mine

    SEQ R: 245.3 : 328 : 133% speed
    W: 86.42 : 240 : 277% speed

    512: R: 180 : 244 : 135% speed
    W: 79.88 : 156 : 195% speed

    4K R: 13.87 : 12.07 : 87% speed
    W: 19.91 : 6.4 : 32% speed :S

Is yours a RAID 0 or just a Samsung SSD because that is a lot quicker, except for small files where yours just seems to give up ?

I will be watching for your post.

Just make sure they are giving you info on the LTN170CT08-D01. There are a lot of variants out there. I know Apple is using the LTN170CT10 for the Macbook Pro. IBM is using the LTN170CT08-L01 for the new Thinkpad. There is also a LTN170CT08-G01 out there.

As I do not need for the moment all the available free space and as I am using the excellent external drive from LaCie http://www.lacie.com/uk/products/product.htm?pid=11271 (I recommend it! by far the best external drive that I never used) for my Backup, I setup RAID 0 with the two SSD.
Concerning your results, I think it is more:

    giannini tomcom2k difference

    Sequential Read : | 328,80 | 245,30 | 34%
    Sequential Write : | 240,20 | 86,42 | 178%
    Random Read 512KB : | 244,20 | 180,00 | 36%
    Random Write 512KB : | 156,60 | 79,88 | 96%
    Random Read 4KB : | 12,07 | 13,87 | -13%
    Random Write 4KB : | 6,38 | 19,91 | -68%

Are you using the Test Size : 100 MB?

I was hesitating to use RAID0 but apparently the results are good.

I have read all of it, but I still don't understand what you problem is?
You still don't think it is a true 8 bit panel?

Also it sounds like so far even if there are issues with it the display calibrates fine aside from some gray scale issues.

Secondly and most importantly most of us who are doing graphic design, photoshop and color profiled projects are not going to be using the 17" display when we have 24" and 30" displays on our desk profiled perfectly for this. Yes, I want a straight answer but it's not a deal breaker.

I was notified again by email that my order has been delayed... again (this has been the second delay so far) :)

I called them and they say they have a big backlog/backorder for the rgbled screens. The lady I spoke with said they are expecting a new shipment of these displays today. She could not confirm if my laptop would be one of the lucky few to be getting one of display from this new shipment. Our fingers are crossed though. It will be worth the wait however long it takes so I'm not sweating over it

FYI, I'm not buying into the conspiracy theory comments about the RGBLED displays... but they are entertaining to read

so, my new delivery date has been moved from Feb 3rd to Feb 10th :D

    *ordered on Dec 29
